
Africa is home to amazing mountain ranges such as Kilimanjaro, Mount Kenya, the Rwenzori Mountains, the Mahale Mountains, and much more. There is a lot of wildlife to see. Rocky summits to climb, mountain forests to admire, jungles to explore, and watering holes where animals take a drink of water.

Take a four-day trek in the Atlas Mountains. venturing to the summit of Mount Toubkal. On this trek hikers head to the trailhead at Imi Oughlad. Then hike the Moroccan countryside to reach the red clay village of Tiziane.

Take a seven-hour hike in Cape Verde, conquering Pico do Fogo, the highest point on the island. Cape Verde is an archipelago of ten volcanic islands west of the African mainland in the Atlantic Ocean. From the summit you can get awesome views of the Atlantic Ocean and the neighboring islands of Brava, Santiago, and Maio.

Adventurers love challenges, and hikers can follow many routes to get to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.

There is a choice of routes to take, like the Marangu Trail, also known as the Coca-Cola Route. The trek starts in the rainforest zone, at the Machame Gate, south of Kilimanjaro National Park. Hikers enjoy the views of the Shira volcanic zone.

The route stretches past the Lava Tower and over the Barranco Wall. Then hikers reach the summit base of Barafu. When summit day arrives, hikers start before midnight, viewing an amazing sunrise and passing by Gilman’s Point and Stella Point.
This 3- to 6-day hike takes hikers to the Sinai Peninsula, which sits between the Mediterranean Sea to the north and the Red Sea to the south.

The Sinai Desert in Egypt unfolds a landscape of sand, gravel, and mountains. Ingenious guides take hikers on fascinating treks.
At Wadi Rimhan you’ll meet up with a steep ravine down to a valley with green palm trees.

Trek up to the summit of Jebel Um Shomar, the second-highest mountain in Egypt. It offers views over the Gulf of Suez and across the Red Sea.
Trek for 3 to 4 hours in Mauritius. Le Morne Brabant is a peninsula at the southwestern tip of Mauritius off the east coast of Africa.

Among the highlights is Le Morne Brabant Mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The slopes of the mountain have caves, and you can see the rare Trochetia boutoniana, the flower of Mauritius.

Take a three-day bush walk in the Okavango Delta in Botswana, known for the grasslands.

It is home to wildlife such as the African bush elephants, buffalo, hippos, lions, giraffes, and more. Hikers trek out into the African bush with local guides and see the local wildlife.

The 10- to 15-day legendary Drakensberg Grand Traverse stretches between the border of South Africa and Lesotho. It is a diverse landscape, one day leading through lush green and the next scaling steep moonscape mountains. This trek runs around 230 km and is one of the toughest on Earth.

Along this route are 34 ridgelines with amazing views and waterfalls, and it takes hikers up the six highest peaks in the region.

A trek for lemur lovers awaits you in Madagascar, where more than 110 species of lemurs live. (pictured above) Enjoy Andringitra National Park, where thirteen species of lemur make their home.

Scale Pic Boby is the second highest mountain in Madagascar. Hike along the Andohariana Plateau leading to granite cliffs.

Trek the Mahala Mountains National Park in Tanzania, where they have the largest eastern chimp population on Earth.

The park is located near the Gombe Stream National Park, which is one of the few places on Earth where chimpanzees and lions coexist. Hikers can explore the lovely forests with guides. This national park can only be reached by air or by water.

Take a five-day challenge and climb Mount Kenya. Point Lenana is the quickest route and the most scenic.

It passes through tussock grass and moorland and passes Lake Ellis. Camp above Lava Michaelson before reaching the highest point.

Trek the Simien Mountains north of Ethiopia.

Within their range is the Simien National Park that was formed to protect wildlife, from rare Ethiopian wolves to klipspringers to gelada monkeys.

Ras Dashen is the highest peak and can accumulate snow overnight. Hikers can enjoy a three-day walk around the national park with grassland, forests, and escarpments to catch a glimpse of wildlife.

Jinbara Falls plunges down and is a sight to see.
