Maintain proper hygiene while you're outside the safety of your home, calls out for some drastic measures. Falling into old habits is unavoidable when your focus is directed elsewhere. So here are some ways you can make sure that you're on track to maintain proper hygiene while carrying on with your daily life.

Focus on your hands.

Most of us are accustomed to washing our hands. But that is not enough! Since we don't necessarily wash our hands every five minutes, we should take special precautions to keep our hands clean. The best precautionary method to stay away from germs is to keep away from touching your eyes, nose, and mouth when you're travelling. Well, this is easily said than done. But what you can do is to place reminders on your electronic devices, which you use almost all the time, to remind you of this practice. An eye-catching wallpaper which targets the message would do. You can also be chic and creative in these personal reminders by wearing stylish wrist bands to which catchy phrases are etched to remind you to keep your fingers from your face.

Keep distance

Well, washing your hands will just not be enough if you're constantly in contact with others who may or may not be practising good hygiene. Try to be present at the moment and be mindful of who and what touches your skin. If it's possible, try to avoid skin-on-skin contact to minimalise sharing germs with the general public. Well, this doesn't mean that you should act like a total weirdo and creep among crowds like you're a lunatic germaphobe. You can just avoid crowded places and opt to travel solo in hygienic conditions such as taking a cab or renting a car. If there's no option, and you do have to walk through crowds, do make sure that you tactfully avoid someone who is continuously coughing or sneezing. You can win admiring glances from others if you return this favour by covering your mouth when you yawn, cough, or sneeze. However, it is recommended that you sneeze into the bend in your arm so that your hands remain clean.

Hygiene at lodgings

No crisis should keep you away from treating yourself with a fabulous Glenelg holiday. Accommodation should be selected after a thorough research as there can be many health horrors creeping at the best of the places. However, what you can do is read the genuine reviews of people who have been to the resort of your choice on TripAdvisor, and carefully select your temporary residence based on them. Keep your eye out for TripAdvisor certified properties such as Oaks Glenelg Liberty Suites while you look for your ideal holiday lodge. Anyhow, make sure that you always carry a hand sanitizer while you spend time at someplace that's not your home so that you can keep your hands spick and span at all times.

Avoid sharing food

Sharing food is unavoidable when you're hanging out with friends, isn't it? Well, avoid sharing food doesn't necessarily mean that you have to hide at someplace and eat alone without experiencing the joys of sharing. It means that you shouldn't, for example, share a packet of crisps. To be more specific, hands belonging to different people shouldn't be in the same packet of munchies. Why not buy several packets of them, and have a wonderful time with your loved ones, so that opportunistic pathogens may not enter your food! Moreover, sharing cutlery among each other is as bad as sharing a packet of eatables. These are easy enough hygiene practices to follow. Thus it would always bid well to abide by these general recommendations. Remember, prevention is always better than cure!
