Doha is the capital city of the peninsula of Qatar. It is a breathtakingly beautiful island in the Middle East that has a great mix of tradition and modern looks. There are many things to do in Doha such as visiting national monuments and museums, going on Dhow cruises, visiting man-made islands and even visiting one of the many mega malls or air-conditioned parks. Doha is quite a safe city, and even at night, there will be many people around and plenty of activities to try out.

Where to Stay in Doha

Doha is a great city to visit and stay in. Hotels in Doha are exceptionally luxurious, and you can expect world-class hospitality during your entire stay in Doha. Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels offers unique, high-end living at their properties which are located in the heart of Doha. Each property has its own different style with staff that will personalise your stay to make it quite a memorable one. They offer personalised tours that will make your trip into the city an informative one, and cover all of the best sights to see.

The Best time to Visit

Doha is a city like most of the surrounding Middle Eastern cities that has temperatures that soar to extremes. The best months to visit Doha are from February to May and from October to December when the temperatures are much cooler in the range of twenty degrees Celsius to thirty degrees Celsius. Although rainfall is not common there is some rainfall during the winter months, which amounts to about 15mm.

A Visit to Souq Waqif

This famous souq is the city’s old commercial centre which is a traditional bazaar with windy narrow streets lined with the wares of the local vendors. There are plenty of stalls of merchants selling gold jewellery, clothes, spices and homeware. There are also many cafes and restaurants as well here where you can sit down and enjoy a good meal and coffee. There is a special Falcon Souq with a specialised Falcon Hospital that looks after the national birds and the traditional sport of falconry. There are also the stables of the special police force, who you will see riding along in caravan formation across the Corniche.

Experiencing a Dinner Cruise on a Traditional Dhow

The Doha night sky is a quite beautiful sight to behold, and one of the best places to view it is to view it while on a dinner cruise along the Doha Marina. When you first step aboard the threshold of the wooden Dhow you will get a feeling of what it would be like to be in a bygone era of fishermen and sailors of the Arabian seas. In the years, now gone by the Qatari people heavily relied on these magnificent Dhows to go pearl diving, fishing and for transportation. In today’s times, these magnificent vessels are a place of entertainment to enjoy music and performances while you have a delicious dinner as you cruise down the marina.

Visit a Shisha Bar when the Sun Goes Down

One of the favourite pastimes of the locals is to sit together and socialise at a Shisha bar after a day of work. Shisha smoking involves the smoking of flavoured tobacco, which comes in a variety of flavours such as mint, grape, watermelon, double apple, lemon, strawberry and many other such delightfully tasty flavours to choose from. Whether you are a seasoned smoker of the delicious shisha flavours or a first-timer who wants to experience what a shisha session feels like, a visit to a shisha bar will make for an interesting and fun night out with your friends.
