If you have a significant other like I do, then they like to camp, and though I don’t mind spending a couple of days out in the woods, why not make it comfortable? That’s why this year, we made a few improvements in our camping set-up. Here’s how we managed to glamp our camp:
1. There’s nothing worse than having to use a campground bathroom, except for maybe, having to do your business in the woods. That’s why this year we bought a camping potty. Yes, they have them! Not only do they have a potty with bags that you can change, but they have a potty tent. That way, the two of you can keep your business to yourselves.
2. After sitting outside and having the dirt and pollen blow on you for hours, why not take a shower? With a shower tent and a portable shower, you should be able to do this wherever you two decide to get away. Most shower water containers are refillable, and the shower head is usually movable, so you can anchor it to the top of the shower tent any way you want.
3. We found that if you buy a water storage container, you can actually use the spout as a spigot, so you can properly wash your hands. Just bring some foaming Dial soap and wash away.
4. The ground gets hard, and no one wants to spend their night rolling back and forth, so we found a pillowtop air bed that sits a couple of feet off the ground. It makes for a more relaxing and comfortable night.
5. Just in case it rains and the two of you want to cuddle, it might be a good idea to bring along a portable DVD player. Then you can watch a romantic movie while listening to the sounds of nature.
6. My spouse found that dryer sheets actually help repel some bugs from your tent while freshening up the place. This is an affordable way to keep your space clean and smelling good.
7. Instead of bringing big bottles of soap, buy a travel kit with empty containers that allow you to pour your shampoo, conditioner, and soap into them and bring them with you. This saves room, allowing you to bring more in your pack.
8. Store most of your items in Ziploc bags. This will help prevent rain and dirt from contaminating them, and it will also assist in preventing spills from liquid goods in your bag.
9. Get a cooler with cup holders on top. This way, you can store your food, and still having an end table while you are sitting around the fire.
10. Get a wagon. This will allow you to carry all of your belongings to your campsite without throwing out your back and help you haul more wood, so you can have a fire all night. There are wagons that also fold-down for easy packing.
Going camping doesn't mean that you have to lose all your luxuries. You just need to be innovative with your ideas. There are several camping accommodations that will solve issues like having to use a campground bathroom to shower and tinkle. You just have to find them. With the tips that I gave you, you should be able to find a few items to make your stay more relaxing and help your camping trip should go smoothly. You won't have to worry about being too tired or dirty to enjoy the trip. You will be able to be clean, comfortable, and relaxed, while still enjoying the beauty of our natural world.
