Porto-Novo is located in the southern part of Benin. It is a destination that that combines rich history, diverse culture, and natural beauty.

The Royal Palace is also known as the Palais de Honme. It once served as the residence for the kings of Porto-Novo. The palace is a complex that includes different buildings and courtyards reflecting traditional Yoruba architectural styles. Inside is a museum displaying house artifacts and exhibits related to the monarchy and the cultural heritage of the area.

The Great Mosque of Porto-Novo is a cultural landmark with impressive architecture. It was built in the early 20th century and the architecture combines traditional West African elements with Brazilian influences. The mosque features ornate wooden carvings and vibrant colors.

The Ouidah Museum of History lets visitors discover the rich history and cultural heritage of Benin. It is located in the nearby town of Ouidah. Visitors can get an insight into the slave trade era and the historical connections between West Africa and the Americas. There is an extensive collection of artifacts, including documents and artwork, which provide a deeper understanding of the region's past.

Jardin Place Jean Bayol is a lovely park with manicured lawns, colorful flowers, and places to sit and relax. You can stroll the park or have a picnic. This is also a venue for cultural events and festivals.

Abeokuta Palace is located in the Oueme region of Benin. It is a historical landmark showcasing the rich cultural heritage and architectural beauty of the area. The Musee da Silva is a museum dedicated to the arts and culture of the Fon people. It offers visitors a look into the rich heritage of the region. There is a collection of artifacts among them traditional attire, sculptures, and different cultural items reflecting the daily life and traditions of the local population. The museum is housed in a lovely preserved colonial building.

Place de l'Independance is located in the heart of Porto-Novo and is a proud symbol of the rich cultural heritage of the country. The vibrant square is a place for locals and tourists to gather. it features lush greenery, historical monuments blending urban life and nature. The square is also a venue for local events and celebrations.

The Ethnographic Museum of Porto-Novo reflects the rich cultural heritage of Benin. It highlights a wide array of artifacts. There is an an impressive collection of traditional clothing, tools, musical instruments, and ceremonial objects that reflect the daily lives and spiritual beliefs of the local peoples.

The Hotel de Ville or City Hall is a prominent and impressive landmark. It serves as the seat of the local government. It is also a venue for cultural and social events.

Porto-Novo Cathedral is also known as the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. It serves as a place o f worship and as a center for cultural and community activities. The architecture is a blend of European Gothic and local styles.Inside are lovely stained-glass windows narrating biblical stories. Guided tours are available.

Ouando Market is a vibrant and active market and among the top attractions in the city. It is a great place to discover the local culture and shop for traditional goods. There are colorful fabrics and clothing and handmade crafts and local artwork. Stalls offer everything from fresh produce and spices to souvenirs and traditional jewelry. Among the highlights at the market is the opportunity to witness the traditional Voodoo practices that are deeply rooted in Benin's culture. Many vendors offer Voodoo-related items such as talismans, potions, and herbs believed to possess protective and healing powers.

The Snake Temple of Ouidah is an unusual temple also referred to as the Temple of Pythons. It holds great religious and cultural significance to the locals. The temple was built in the late 18th century, dedicated to the voodoo deity, Dangbé. What makes this temple truly remarkable is its population of non-venomous pythons, which are considered sacred and embody the presence of the deity. Visitors have the opportunity to observe priests performing rituals and locals seeking blessings and guidance from the pythons. It is believed that these snakes possess special powers and play a vital role in the spiritual beliefs of the people. The temple featurs traditional mud walls and a thatched roof. Inside, various shrines and altars are adorned with colorful textiles and trinkets.

Lake Nokoue is located in the Oueme region near Porto-Novo. It is a lovely lake surrounded by nature and one of the largest lakes in Benin. It is an integralal part of life for the farmers and fishermen. The lake is surrounded by lush landscapes and quaint villages.

Visitors can take a boat trip to Ganvie. Ganvie is the famous stilt village located on Lake Nokoue. This amazing village was built entirely on the water with houses on stilts and connected by a network of canals. You can experience the traditional lifestyle of the Tofinu people and learn about their farming and fishing practices. Guided tours are available.
