Budget Friendly Events—March 2019

Low Cost Activities In and Around Amsterdam (NL)

By EileenPublished 7 years ago 2 min read

Going out doesn't have to break the bank. Need some inspiration? Start your spring cleaning (or hoarding) at a recycling fair. Go for an exquisite Wine and Food Tasting. Learn all about Karuta, travel through time in VR or expand your vision by joining a talk about Hope in a Warzone.

All Days—VR Journey

This virtual reality trip takes you back to the Dutch Golden Age. You'll fly over Amsterdam’s historic harbour to witness how the busy port and city grew, see the construction and launching of a warship and stand on the quay to wave farewell to the crew of the East India Company's ship (VOC). The VR experience won't cost you a thing, but it is necessary that you buy an entrance ticket to the Maritime Museum. Tip: If you have an Amsterdam Pass, city card or museum card, that's free as well!

All Days—Karuta Exposition

Karuta is a traditional Japanese card game. It's also part of Dutch history because of the long-lasting (trade) relationship between the two countries, in which goods, knowledge and arts were exchanged. This exposition will tell you more about our combined heritage, free of charge.

When Floortje Dessing travelled to Afghanistan for her TV show, she met with David Mason, the founder of the Mobile Mini Circus for Children. His organisation helps traumatized children due to the war by laughter and joy. Listen to them talk about their experiences (among others).
