Dundee, the city situated on the banks of the famous River Tay. Known exclusively for the three J's.
Jute, Jam and Journalism.

This small but vibrant city is host to two very famous ships which include the RRS Discovery ship, which was built in Dundee, in 1901. This large ship was built for scientific research purposes in the polar regions which lead to it being known as the discovery expedition. The ship now rests at the waterfront, where you can visit and go inside the vessel.
The second ship is the HMS Unicorn, which is almost 200 years old. This remarkable historic vessel is the last surviving wooden warship in Scotland. Inside is now a museum dedicated to the ship's history.
In the city of Dundee, we have seen a new, modern museum taking its place at the waterfront. This large and wonderful sight is called, The V&A. Opened in 2018, this new design museum opened its doors to the community of Dundee, bringing in a vast amount of tourists. This handsome museum hosts a number of fantastic art. Including new pieces being created by our very own city's students and artists. The design of the building is extortionary and creates a whole new look for the city's waterfront.

Dundee is the city of life, each building hosts a historic and memorable place in the heart of Scotland. The weather in Scotland, as a whole, can be mistaken. Although the sun may shine bright, the wind can blow a frosty cold in from the north. The rain can pour down hard but gives growth to the vast plant life that lies within Dundee's land. However the weather may change, the sky in Dundee will always look like it has been painted by an artist. The blue sky with the fluffy white clouds, even on cold days can make your heart flutter.

In the city, we see life everywhere we turn. From the season stalls that visit, to the university students creating events for all to join in and have fun. Each person has their own story and are always willing to share. Dundee's people are friendly and we take pride in our city.

I have grown up in Dundee all my life, and I am still learning about this cities great prospects. In my younger days I remember running through the cobblestone town centre. The same cobblestone that has been there for centuries. Each path and ally way leads you to a new place, creating a maze of wonderful historic sights. Each hill gives you a new outlook on the city's behaviour. As you climb the Law hill, which is the largest hill in Dundee, you are able to feast your eyes upon the entire city including the bonnie River Tay.
As I watch my child grow in this city, I wonder to myself. Will my child have the same love for Dundee as I did growing up here. I will make it my job to show him what this wonderful city has to offer within Scotland. I take him to the large parks which are covered in soft Scottish grass and let him pick the wild daisies, so we can make lovely daisy chains, just as I did when I was younger.

As we sit at home, waiting for the return of normality, we seek to find out where our next place to visit will be. I encourage you to visit the City Of Dundee at least once in your lifetime.

I had always told myself I wanted to move away from Dundee. As an adult I now realise my city has more to offer than meets the eye. I may still travel the world when I get the chance, but I will always return back home to my bonnie Dundee.
