Biking at Green Lake
Outdoor Fun and Biking in the Summer

Green Lake in Whistler B.C. is one of the largest lakes in town. It is located out in Alpine Meadows going to Pemberton, BC. The whole town of Whistler has a biking trail to go up and about the area. In the summer, a lot of bikers travel the town to enjoy the heat and the beauty of Whistler. It is a tourist destination and haven of outdoor enthusiasts. The town is surrounded by magnificent valleys and lakes like you see on the back of me in that photo. Whistler is a ski resort in Canada and always been visited by people around the world to enjoy the Winter. In the summer, the ski resort will turn into a downhill biking trail and is one of the famous downhill biking spots in the world. Green Lake is also used for kayaking, paddle boarding, and swimming too. This sand bar is huge where you can bike, walk, and chill when you visit. There are also lots of hiking trails around town, Wedge Mountain which is adjacent to Green Lake is one of the difficult hiking trails in Whistler. To go up that mountain will take you 4-6 hours depending on your skill. I was a beginner hiker and going up and down this mountain is the worst but enjoyable hiking I have ever done. I could not walk for 3 days after the hike. If you are a beginner hiker, don't attempt the Wedge Mountain. It's gonna be an excruciating hike you will ever experience. Overall, Green Lake is just one of the most beautiful lakes in Whistler and the surrounding neighborhood is beautiful too. People are nice and are living in comfort. If you ever come to Canada, Whistler is one of the best itineraries you can visit all year round. The outdoor activities are endless and surely, you will enjoy.
The name Green Lake says it all: this is a beautiful glacier-fed lake right next to Whistler Village. There's easy access to the water from paved roads, making this a great outing for anyone visiting Whistler for a couple of days and looking for an afternoon adventure.
To reach Green Lake Park, head north from Whistler on HWY99 to Emerald Estates and turn right onto Summer Lane. There is also a dock and launching ramp at the north end of Summer Lane that isn't marked on the map. The best place to launch from is Emerald Estates, or if you have a stand-up paddle board, the sand spits near Whistler Air. Measuring 1.2 kilometers from end to end, Green Lake is a fairly easy paddle, perfect for lounging around in the summer sun. The Green River drains from the north end of the lake, and this is the prettiest area for paddling—just be careful of the current pulling you towards the river! There is a small neighborhood with houses lining the shore of Green Lake near the highway. Tucked into this neighborhood is a very small, easy to miss park right on the waterfront. Green Lake Park is a small section of land along the shore of this beautiful lake. Squeezed between two houses, the park looks like a vacant lot where a house would have been built. Instead of a house, there is a small building with washrooms and a nice little forest with picnic tables. The rocky shore is perfect for launching a canoe and there is a public storage area for canoes and kayaks. Green Lake Park is direct across from Parkhurst Ghost Town, a derelict old logging town long abandoned. The ghost town is easy to spot with its abandoned log loader perched on the edge of the lake, almost directly across from the park. This huge, very solid metal machine that looks somewhat like a tractor has been sitting there for several decades. Looking like a museum piece, this beautiful piece of history marks the entrance to Parkhurst if you are arriving by boat. A trail cuts through the bushes crosses the train tracks, then ascends a short hill into the forest where you will find many collapsed houses, one still standing and dozens of interesting curiosities. There are a hiking and biking trail to Parkhurst, but paddling across the Green Lake from Green Lake Park is the easiest and nicest way to get there.
