relationships
Trace the link between feminism and relationships from outdated norms to modern conventions including chivalry, working mothers, splitting the bill and beyond.
The delay
In 2019, I was supposed to graduate. I could’ve graduated. But my family couldn’t come and I couldn’t afford summer classes. So I spent another year in an unwelcome theatre program. Where the same people get to grow as artists, being cast in every show. I wanted to fit in and feel included, but I just wasn’t. I would be excluded from parties, events, hangouts. I became depressed. I wanted to make the best of another year of program, but my anxiety took over.

When the Predator is in Your Own Family
When most people think of stalkers who shadow women intent on sexual assault, what they think of is a stranger in black following the innocent woman to her car in some late-night parking lot, chloroform and duct tape in hand. They think of names like Ted Bundy, the Hillside Strangler, the Zodiac killer, and others.

Time Apart
It's literally been a day. One whole day, two nights. With six more to go. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for you. Traveling is something you've always liked to do, and it's only thanks to me that you found your love for the ocean in the first place, so I truly only have myself to blame that you took the opportunity to go on this trip at all.

RAQUEL, A Story in Two Parts
Raquel: The Girl, the Legend to Me Part One: The Svelte Chic In third grade with Miss Hinklebury, I met Raquel. She was truly beautiful. She wore an awesome top knot side ponytail every day in her extra long, flowing blondish locks which toppled her head to the side sometimes when she was trying to write or do math at her desk. The teacher actually out loud suggested one day that she change her hairdo- that it might help her concentrate. But, I never minded Raquel's simplicity or lack of attention in in class. I would sit nearby and watch her, with her big florescent, bangle earrings, zoning off.

I love you (but it’s not enough)
“Take it off.” The words rang hollow in the heavy silence of the room. The grey light that filtered through the bedroom window, showed John’s hunched over silhouette, as he sat, hands clasped and resting on his elbows, on the edge of the bed, the satin beneath him crumpled and dishevelled. Hours earlier, he had kicked off his shoes and laid on that cover, excited for the evening ahead. He had marvelled at the softness of the sheets. Beneath his numb hands now, they felt like nothing.

Matchmaking and Merlot
Cynthia stood in the bar alone, gazing at herself in the mirror behind the bar. Her reflection was snuggled between a bottle of Crown and a bottle of Jack Daniels. The sight made her nose curl up as she recalled nights long ago filled with shots, dancing, and Steven. Her brown eyes begged her to leave.
