Meet Kali: The Monthly Organic Feminine Hygiene Subscription Box
I always forget to stock up on tampons whenever my period comes and I never learn. I'll drive to the local convenient store, praying in the back of my head, "Don't drip, don't drip, don't drip." Most of the time I end up dripping. Aunt Flo isn't such a nice visitor, and when she does come, she always makes her arrival grand and catches me by surprise with nothing to stop her.

Menstrual Cups
This might seem like a peculiar first article to post as a creative writing student. After all, menstruation isn’t usually the first thing to get people’s imagination going, and it’s regarded as taboo by some. However, the more I think about it, the more I realise they encompass many of my beliefs: they are vegan and environmentally friendly, economical, and hold a lot of menstruation, giving people with periods more time and freedom to do what they want (such as jogging, swimming, or sleeping).

I Tried a Menstrual Cup
I had been toying with the idea of trying out a menstrual cup for a while, but honestly, I was a little bit skeeved out by the whole idea—and it is quite a steep initial investment, usually around $35 rather than the $6-7 I was paying for a box of tampons. Of course, every month when I realized that I was out of tampons, or had forgotten to bring tampons with me and started unexpectedly at work, or the store didn't have my tampons, I was definitely intrigued with the concept of having something that would never run out and that I didn't have to purchase each month. I had watched a few videos about people's menstrual cup experiences and was definitely becoming more comfortable with the idea when, suddenly, a Facebook ad popped up, offering a free menstrual cup if I paid for shipping. I definitely am a sucker for something that is free. I was slightly scared about what kind of random mystery product I would be receiving and whether or not it was a good or safe choice, but I went through with it anyway because at least it let me play around and see what they were like.

Cloth Pads: Making the Switch
I had been thinking about making the switch from disposable menstrual pads to reusable cloth pads for quite a while—probably nearly a whole year. From the moment I first discovered them, I was intrigued. I wanted to be rid of the uncomfortable, irritating plastic feeling that made me dread my period and had wished for an alternative to feeling so gross for a week every month. Here it was, but I was still hesitant to make the investment.

Great Apps Every Woman Should Have on Their Phone
These days, our life is on our phones. It's sad to say, but we evolved to rely on our phones for many, many things. From keeping us organized, staying connected with others, and keeping track on our fitness, there's a lot that our smartphones can do for us. We keep financial records on our phones, make grocery lists, and email for work. We take advantage of our phones each and everyday. But we don't have to view our smartphones as something that's bad for us. In fact, we learn so much from using our phones.

The Booband Review
One of my (many) Black Friday gifts to myself was the Original Booband in pink. I discovered this brand on Instagram, and immediately had a strong sense of respect for the idea and the people behind it. Breast health is a commonly overlooked part of fitness, as a well-fitting sports bra is not always at the top of the shopping list for beginner and even experienced athletes. I know an alarming number of people who ride in everyday bras, which offer little to no support when utilized in such a high-impact sport. In addition, many people do not consider changing into a sports bra for a simple walk, when even this lower-impact activity can lead to sagging and damage over time. Many people who use sports bras do not realize how often they have to be replaced to remain fully effective. Boobands offer a universal addition to the sport bra line to protect breasts and promote breast health everywhere.

Awesome Feminist Gifts that Donate to Planned Parenthood
If there's one thing we can all agree on, it's the fact that women's body autonomy is under attack. With Planned Parenthood being defunded by the GOP, and abortion rights continually being dialed back into the 1950s, it's our duty to fight back as hard as we can.

Cloth Pads
They may seem a little scary at first, but cloth pads are actually incredibly easy to use! Cloth pads have wings that fold around your underwear like a regular pad, and usually have a snap button to hold them in place. Your main challenge is picking a good brand. (I like GladRags or Lunapads!) You'll need to change your cloth pad about every two to six hours. As often as you would personally change a regular disposable pad, you should change your cloth pads too, because just like a disposable pad they can become too full and leak. If you're out of the house, you can simply bring a plastic grocery bag with you and put your used pad in there until you get home, or buy a product made for them like this carry bag from GladRags, which I personally love. Having a cute and discreet bag to carry around menstrual products rules, and it's easy to just grab it and go to the bathroom instead of lugging my whole purse or bag around.
