Put a Sock in It
Sometimes I have to question what “put a sock in it” actually means. Look, don’t get me wrong, I totally understand the fact that "it" in this case is referring to the mouth. But it can easily be referring to your hoohah, just the same. And that brings us to my point; if you could... (hypothetically speaking of course), put an actual sock in your hoohah, would the sock potentially cause toxic shock syndrome the way a tampon might? Because let me just tell you, when I get my period, I am ready to shove a cork in there just to stop it from bleeding. Sadly however, the closest thing to a cork thats available on the feminine hygiene market today, can also kill you.

Finding Out I Have PCOS
I have always known there was something wrong with me... I started my period at 9-years-old and would suffer through excruciating pain and extremely heaving bleeding EVERY SINGLE MONTH. My Mum thought I had endometriosis, therefore took me to the doctors; however, they brushed it off and sent me on my way. Eventually when I was 14, I went back to the doctors because I couldn’t take it anymore... They put me on the pill. Thinking back, I wish I had put up more of a fight for more answers but I was given my Microgynon 30 and went on my way.

When it comes to that time of the month we are often presented with extras alongside the period itself. These can vary from headaches, mood swings, cramps, feeling bloated to my least favourite, loss of appetite. "Oh It'll Be Okay, You're a Girl, It's Suppose to Be Like This."
I curled up in the middle of the living room floor at 16 years old and clutched my legs to my chest in pain that felt like the Evil Queen Regina grabbed my uterus and squeezed it into dust. Actually, that might have hurt less than what I really felt. I remember my eldest little brother was worried trying to find my mom while my youngest was worried trying to make sure I was okay. I passed out shortly after that and woke up to my mom trying to get me into a wheelchair at the urgent care down the road. We sat in there for two-and-a-half hours before final being taken to a waiting room for another hour. When the nurse and doctor finally arrived and took my blood, even though it took three people and six tries before someone succeeded, they found nothing wrong. The recommended that because my pain was coming from my lower abdominal area that I seek advice from my gynecologist.
