feminism
At its core, feminism is the simple conviction that women are equal to men in every regard, and should be treated as such.
The Future Is Female: Artistic Perspectives
As a writer, aspiring actress and PR specialist, there are many hats to be worn in my day-to-day life—a common trend for many women in the arts. With time and travels, I had the pleasure to work, or spend time with these seven wonderful women who are blazing a trail for female artists to come. Here are their stories, as a reminder, that while the struggle may be real... our voices are only getting louder.

Feminism Explained
Trigger Warning: Topic includes abortion and rape. Many people in my community have made it clear that they don’t believe in feminism anymore, mostly directing their disapproval at “femi-nazis.” The term refers to women who hate on men and are trying to take down everything involving the male gender. Because of their irrational actions, true feminist activists are losing supporters.

I Think I'm a Feminist...
So, I think I might be a feminist, but I'm not really sure. Let me be clear, I believe we should all have equal rights no matter your sex, race, religion...if you're one of those 'new nazis' maybe you shouldn't have rights. Maybe you should go back to kindergarten and learn some manners. This article though, is about feminism. I am a feminist, I think. However, now if you tell someone you're a feminist, you get a lot of bad reactions. Or maybe that's just me because most of my family and over half of my friends are republicans. I'm also a republican so when I say I'm a feminist a lot of people are like, "Umm, okay so you're democratic now? Wow. Okay." And get all offended like I suddenly became a communist and asked to kill their first born child.

The Future Is Female
On Sunday October 14, 2018, I received the greatest honor of my life so far: becoming a godmother to my six-week-old baby cousin. On Labor Day, the day my baby cousin graced my world with her arrival, my friend Helen and I went shopping, as one does when everything's on sale. I remember looking for the perfect outfit to get her.

The Audition: Public Relations
Receiving an email from my agent at 7 PM explaining I had been submitted to an audition for an American TV show, felt like my prayers had been answered. After searching for a sign that I shouldn’t give up on my dreams to become an actress, I was beginning to wonder if I had what it took. To give you an idea, last year in meeting with a director about taking on a lead role in a short film, she had said, “As a woman, it is already tough being in the film industry. But I can’t imagine what it’s like to be a minority on top of that.” This isn’t a sob story, this is a truth concerning my uphill battle of seeking more diverse roles in my category.

Man Is Not Man Without Woman
Holding the header for this semi-rant—that I believe is extremely necessary—is the late Chantal Akerman. She was one of the most audacious, talented, unwavering filmmakers in her time and stands as one of the key figures of the dawn of the feminist film movement. As a film studies major and a lover of her creations, I think she's a perfect embodiment of feminine power.
