Beauty Marked. Top Story - August 2023.
It intrigues me sometimes the things we find beauty in. However, as a licensed esthetitician and artist, with years of experience in this segment of industry, I've witnessed firsthand how people's perceptions of beauty can impact their self-esteem and create a desire to conform to societal expectations. The paradoxical nature of beauty becomes evident as individuals seek to alter their appearance while simultaneously using makeup to boost their confidence and self-perception. Having been in the makeup/beauty industry for over 20+ years, I often deal with the vein side of people, and with that comes the expectation of pleasing everyone and insecurities. So, while it is subjective, I don’t seek to judge it, only understand it.

Why are women valued first for their looks and second for their abilities?
In a world where women have made significant strides towards gender equality, it is disheartening to acknowledge that they are still often valued first for their looks and second for their abilities. It raises the critical question: why does society continue to prioritize physical appearance over the talents, skills, and achievements that women bring to the table? This societal bias not only perpetuates harmful stereotypes but also undermines the progress towards true gender equality. By examining the underlying factors that contribute to this phenomenon, we can shed light on the complex dynamics at play and work towards dismantling the notion that a woman's worth is solely determined by her appearance. Join us as we explore the multifaceted reasons behind this issue and strive for a future where women are valued and celebrated for their abilities above all else.

A Healthy Vagina Is A Bacteria-Loving Vagina
The Healthy Flora I’ll let you in on a little secret, tampons and contraceptives are not a cause for vaginal discharge and over 1000 women at a family planning clinic with a group of scientists are about to learn that vaginas indeed do talk. Connections between the vaginal flora and oral contraceptives and tampons were investigated for indication of antibiotics. Cue in Beyonce’s “ Grown Woman” or just simply her singing “ THIS is for all my grown women out there!” on repeat because anyone else just will not understand! Bacteria or germs are found everywhere including the human body; Just not the part of the human body where life is borne ( kidding! ). The vagina is a host to many bacteria, most of which have been there since Adam and Eve’s time! A healthy vagina’s microbiome aka healthy vaginal flora is dominated with several bacteria to fight against urogenital infections. The vaginal microbiology undergoes fluctuations during a menstrual cycle and over the lifetime. The bacteria that make up the normal vagina is “good” bacteria but the abnormal increase of them causes infections such as BV (bacterial vaginosis). https://muysalud.com/en/health/vaginal-flora-what-it-is-and-how-to-care-for-it/
