Feminine Self Love
Self love is a popular topic these days. We read about how to love ourselves in magazines and social media. And, in essence, we see a lot more about feminine self love than we do the masculine variety. Maybe that is because men aren't expected to be anything more than what they appear to be... physically, mentally, or emotionally. I am not saying that men don't have societal pressure to be more than. They just don't have as much pressure on them as their female counterparts.

Mystery Man
Alcohol. Some people love it, some people need it, crave it even. Not me. Alcohol fueled with poorly made decisions destroyed me. That and the mystery man. I call him mystery man because I don't have any other label for him. In fact I have zero clue who he is.

What the World Is like After You’ve Been Raped
When we are young, most people won’t see the world as it is. I can remember the world when I was young, was full of bustle and life, empty of responsibility and solely about meeting friends and having a good time. I couldn’t see much past primary school or secondary school, I knew that they were ahead of me, but between a group of friends at school, and a room for me at home, I could never have imagined what growing older would be—the people I’d meet and who I’d become.

Story of the Alternative Black Girl
The historical and systematic policing of black women’s bodies has not stopped at the legislative level, where rich, old, white men pass laws denying us the right to choose. It has not stopped with the trauma of police brutality and the catcalling in the streets. Black women are scrutinized even in the intricacies of their lifestyle choices, and it comes from all angles.

An Open Letter to Men Who Took a Liking to Me a Little Too Fast
Dear You, Before I begin, I want you to clearly understand that this isn’t about you. This isn’t about you, because you’re not the only one. This isn’t about you, because you hardly left any scars on me. I do write about love, but sorry, you’re not worth a whole post.

We Have to Stop Stigmatizing Birth Control
Much of the conversation around abortion rights inevitably morphs into a discussion about birth control, and without fail swarms of people in congress (and on Twitter) decide to take it upon themselves to explain why access to certain types (or all types) of birth control should be restricted. This has always baffled me, since abortion medication and birth control are not the same thing, and access to affordable birth control has been proven to reduce abortion rates. Apparently the high of rummaging through people’s medicine cabinets makes that information seem irrelevant.
