Reading Is What? Fundamental!
I’m not even sure where to start with this one! This is, hands down, one of the funniest “self help” books that I have ever read. I’m generally not one for these types of books, but I knew that I had to give this a read. Life advice, hilarious stories, and beautifully captured photographs align to create the perfect reading experience. I think it is important to have diverse representation in all forms of media, and seeing two accomplished drag queens sit down and write a self help book as “modern women” is, in my opinion, the pinnacle of diverse representation.

Within some societies, women are almost always expected to wear and know about makeup, and when one doesn’t, she must be prepared to explain herself. Alicia Keys is a prime example of this. She literally had to sit down and explain why she decided to go makeup free on the cover of her album, Here. As if that wasn’t bad enough, a lot of people were offended and outraged by her choice. Twitter was at it on the night of the 2016 VMAs, where a makeup free, Keys graced the event. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but not all women know or even care for makeup and that's okay. 2 years ago, I was a clueless girl that barely knew anything about this world. I didn’t even own lip gloss, okay? The aspect was foreign and unnecessary to me, but my interest grew. I was captivated and enthralled in learning about myself and journeying through my femininity, and through it all, YouTube was there – that little search engine that would lead to many teachings that molded parts of me.

1. Take Care of Your Lips The lips are a prominent feature of our faces as women. It is often one of the first things that men notice on a woman's face. Lips have a lot of feeling in them and because of this can get irritated rather easily. Seasonal changes in the weather and random foods or drinks may be irritating the soft skin of your lips and you do not even know it. In the winter, some people get dry lips that form a red ring of dead skin around them. Then, they find themselves licking their lips more throughout the day to compensate for the dryness and only end up irritating them more. This vicious cycle can be a huge downer on your daily life. To stay on top of your lip softness and comfort game, try always having some medicated lip balm on hand. This will give your lips a drink of nourishment and also work on repairing the broken skin. You will never regret keeping one of these in your purse just in case.

When I Was 18
When I was 18 I was raped at a party. I am always hesitant to talk about this in a public way for a few reasons. First, I know it is hard for the people who love me to read about. Most of them had no idea this happened to me and I can appreciate how brutal it must be to find out. Second, nobody wants to talk about it. It's scary to put out there something that is rarely talked about. The fear of judgement is real and the stigma attached to sexual assault is too. Victim blaming is real y'all. When I went through this almost all of my friends turned on me. In fact sometimes I feel that was the most traumatic part.

What's wrong with being plus-sized?

Our social media feeds may still be imploding with thin models, but it is met with friendly competition from women of all shades strutting their curves.
