My Childhood Hero
I am a huge fan of a large variety of fantasy worlds, but the fantasy world that had the greatest impact on me was one that I discovered through an old, obscure television series that I saw when I was a child. The series was a fantasy/adventure series called The Secrets of Isis. The fantasy world that existed in the series was so impactful because it gave me, as a young girl, a strong, powerful, intelligent role model to look up to. I actually have trouble finding other people who are familiar with The Secrets of Isis, but it was a very important part of my early years.

Equality
Today we live in a world where we see only a handful of women in the top most political positions, can anybody tell me why? It continued to lack women in position of power from corporate boardrooms to the courts and political leadership. If men can be both employed and be a father then women can also be both employed and a mother. Still many men out there cannot see a women being successful, Why?

Where does our concepts of "sexy" come from?
What makes us feel sexy and why? Is it a pose? An outfit? Behavior/mannerism? Certainly, the definition of sexy is going to be subjective. It will be different for every person based on their filters, life experiences and preferences.

It’s OK To Be Rude. Top Story - September 2021.
The first time I was harassed, I was barely thirteen. Standing outside the grocery store where my dad was helping my grandma choose some things to bring back to her apartment, I waited with our new puppy on the sidewalk. It was busy and hot, the sun battering the pavement and the exhaust from cars clouding in the air. A man older than my father approached, petting our new puppy without asking. He then launched into a speech about how pretty I was, followed by an onslaught of questions begging to know my address, my phone number, my age and whether my parents were around. I told him I was just thirteen. He laughed, but was not dissuaded. I noticed how his eyes lingered in uncomfortable places for longer than I wanted them to. As he leaned close to me, I caught a whiff of alcohol from his faded t-shirt. Eventually, I ran inside.

You Will Never Be Pretty Enough
On March 9, 1959, the Barbie doll was first introduced into the American market. Barbie was modelled after the German “Bild Lilli” doll, a racy figurine designated as the epitome of female beauty and often found at bachelor parties and in tobacco shops.

Abortion Isn’t A Choice, It’s Necessary Medical Care
Abortion is something I never plan to do. Most women never believe they will. Recently, the US Supreme Court upheld the Texas ban on abortion. While there are a few “health related” exceptions to the ban, they are vague and remain a gray area. There are no exceptions for incest or rape.

Chubby Chasers?
‘Chubby chasers’ is a new term I heard recently. After being explained what it means I realized it’s the same as a ‘Fat Fetish’. Which is a term that has always created a burning hatred in my soul. I can’t help but question why us plus sized women can’t just be called women. Why does the size of our bodies have to be a characteristic used to describe us?

What is Like to be a Young, Black Women in America
In life, people are always thrown challenges that they need to overcome and move past to life on with one's life, but when a certain group of people have it much harder than others it can be much harder to move past. For example, African Americans on average have it much harder than other groups due to discrimination in the work place and also while during everyday tasks. Another group that are marginalized is women often there is a stigma that women are less than men and this can be reflected in one's pay in the work place and also discrimination regarding intelligence and other attributes. Lastly, the younger people of these groups are often undermined because of being young meaning that they do not know as much because they have not been around as long as other people have.

I Was Always Proud That I Wasn't A "Typical" Girl. Top Story - September 2021.
I was always a little different from other girls in my class. While most of the girls liked to talk about clothes and fashion, I wanted to talk about books and the latest gadgets. I was always a voracious reader so wanted to discuss amazing things described in them(this was the pre-internet era when we relied on books for all our knowledge). But most of the girls couldn't share my interests.

What's Not to Love About Being A Woman?
“What’s not to love about being a woman?” How about the unwanted attention we get from just wearing clothes that “show off too much skin”? Or the never ending judgement from a society that seems like it has a little too much to say about how women should present themselves. Or how about the fact that many women feel unsafe walking by themselves (any time of day) but especially at night. Or when men think they need to explain every little thing to us just because we’re women and “we wouldn’t know these types of things”.
