It's Late but, Summer is Still Hot

With six days officially remaining in the summer, we continue our celebration of the accomplishments of women and body positivity. This awesome mix of ladies features women who have hurdled, blocked at the net and scored touchdowns.
Arryona Simmons

A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Arryona Simmons completed her first NCAA Division I season with Arkansas-Pine Bluff. She recorded a top five finish in the pentathlon and a top six finish in the 60-meter hurdles at the SWAC Indoor Championships. During outdoor season, Simmons was a finalist in the 100-meter hurdles at the conference championship meet. Prior to this year, Simmons competed on the junior college level at Meridian Community College from 2022-to-2023. She was a national qualifier at the National Junior College Athletics Association Championships in the 60-meter hurdles, 1o0-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles.
Alana Walker

The daughter of former NBA champion and All-Star, Antoine Walker, Alana Walker has made a name for herself on multiple fronts. The 6-foot-3 Chicago native played volleyball at both Northwestern and Virginia during her collegiate career. From 2017-to-2020 at Northwestern, Walker tallied 333 total blocks in 106 career matches. She also posted 751 kills and 101 digs. During the 2021 season, Walker played 28 matches during her only season at Virginia. She posted 151 total blocks and 182 kills. Since her playing days she's continuing her strong presence on social media which began during her college days. She currently has 169,000 followers on Instagram and another 193,400 followers on TikTok. These days, Walker is even featured on Playboy.com.
Promise Cross

Promise Cross participated in her first full season at Florida Atlantic this year, after an injury shortened year in 2023. During her short time at Florida Atlantic, Cross has become the school's all-time leader with a high jump mark of 1.70 meters. She is also third all-time with 3,531 points in the pentathlon. While competing at Toledo from 2021 to 2022, Cross had her best showing at the 2022 Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships with a top four finish in the pentathlon.
Arryana Barton

Arryana Barton is now working in the Name Image and Likeness space with collegiate athletes. She is also involved in television production. In her past, Barton was a very successful athlete in two sports. She competed in track and field at Sacramento City College and McPherson College respectively. At Sacramento City College, Barton was the 2011 triple jump champ in the Big 8 Conference. Three years later she became a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference champion at McPherson in the triple jump and shot put. Barton was a multiple-time collegiate All-American on the NAIA level and was a bronze medal recipient in the triple jump at the NAIA Indoor Championships. After finishing her collegiate career in 2015, Barton continued her sports endeavors in the Legends Football League. In 2017, she was one of the top receivers on the Atlanta Steam as she helped the team advance to its first league championship game.
Jakayla Campbell

This young woman from College Park, Georgia had a strong rookie season at Wofford College. Jakayla Campbell was a state champion hurdler in high school and her success transferred on the collegiate level. At the Southern Conference Indoor Championships, she captured the silver medal in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.87. In the preliminary round she ran a time of 8.80 seconds which is the fastest time for a freshman in school history. During the outdoor season, Campbell had a top three finish in the 100-meter hurdles at the conference championships.
