Full Glory: My Experience in Greece
Experience Greece in it's full glory

In the summer of 2017, I left the United States to spend my summer in Europe, seeing as many countries as possible and having an unforgettable experience. The first country I visited was Greece, and in my opinion it was hands-down the best country to visit in Europe. In this article, I will outline why Greece was so amazing, why you should visit it if you haven’t already, and how you can travel through Greece on your next vacation!
The Island of Crete
I took a trip to Crete, an island off of the coast of Greece. I traveled alone and had a wonderful time. The people there were so friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an adventure! -The food was excellent
-The beaches are breathtaking -There is plenty of things to do if you're not into relaxing on the beach all day
-The local cuisine is delicious!

Athens
My first stop was Athens, the nation's capital and largest city. I walked around for hours, getting a feel for the city, and then took a tour of the Acropolis to see some of the most famous Greek monuments. We also got to explore some of the ancient ruins. Our day ended with a walk along Plaka, which is an ancient neighborhood where you can still see homes and churches that are hundreds of years old. After a full day, it was nice to relax with some olives and feta cheese as we watched the sun set over Athens from our rooftop terrace.
Olympia
My experience at the Olympic Stadium was one that I will never forget. It felt like a dream, and my only regret is not being able to stay longer. I am so grateful that I had the chance to visit this site of great history, and hope to return someday soon. The stadium has been preserved very well, it's still easy to imagine what it would have been like in ancient times with all the marble statues surrounding you. The sound of laughter from children as they play or are throwing things around.

Delphi
I had never been to Greece before and I wanted to experience everything that it had to offer. I knew from the moment I stepped off the plane that this was a special place, with its rich history, beautiful landscape and delicious food. As an American, one of the things that surprised me about Greece was how laid back everyone is – there's no pressure or stress here. It felt like people were just taking life at their own pace. One of my favorite experiences was going up to Delphi and seeing all of the different temples as well as walking through the fields where they found some of the Oracle's bones. The views were absolutely amazing!
Santorini
-Take a day tour from Fira to Oia and don't forget your camera! The view from Oia was absolutely breathtaking and one of my favorite moments during this entire trip.
-Visit Kamari Beach which is an extension of Fira beach. There were many locals there making their own fun by playing volleyball or swimming. If you are looking for a more secluded area, continue walking down the beach away from town. The water here is significantly warmer than that of the beaches near Fira, so it's perfect for those who want to do some snorkeling. Keep following the coastline around until you reach the southernmost point on Santorini island. You'll find that visitors have left messages on rocks in hopes of being reunited with loved ones back home. It's worth stopping for just a moment to take it all in before heading back towards town .
