The Culture of Consent
Bring those blurred lines into focus; deep-dive into issues such as sexual violence, consent, victim blame and the difference between yes and no.
When Do We Have Informed Consent in Sex?
As conversations about consent continue to become more commonplace, more and more people are looking at sexual consent in new ways that they never have before. Consent is about more than just desire. We are constantly analyzing a number of factors, even subconsciously, to determine what our consent will be. Our answers may change based on the specifics of the situation or the person or people involved. Sometimes we consent to things and find out extra information after. This can be upsetting if we feel that information would have changed our choice before the activity. Being able to make an informed decision is an important piece of the consent process.

Grinding Your Crotch on Me During Rush Hour
So after moving to London almost two years ago, I had long dreamt of 'The Commute.' The hustle and bustle of busy London life that excited the young Essex girl in me. The thing that no-one really tells you? The HARASSMENT you will be subjected to on that train.

Starting to Understand Personal Interactions
Recently I got the opportunity to work alongside a staff writer and reporter for my college town's newspaper (who shall remain nameless). The topic I decided to help him on was about the topic of sexual harassment; a topic I care about. Though this was not the primary reason why I chose it, there were other factors in play. The most vital one to me was to show how the issue of sexual harassment is still prevalent today.

Consent, Consent, Consent!
Verb: Give permission for something to happen. One of, if not the most important fundamental required to get your freak on with someone you're sexually attracted to and yet frequently misunderstood. Women have often been hurt one way or another by misunderstood consent and we need to protect them. Through my "male-lense," which is at times goofy, barbaric and yet sensible, I will explain how to understand and ask for consent as education is important and hopefully this is the first of many.

The Sexualization of the Female Body
I hate to start this all feminist with you, but almost every woman around you, from your mum to your sister, will have experienced either sexual discrimination or sexual harassment at least once in their life. This is the case more often that it is not.

Accept or Reject: The Truth About Consent
“Stupid bitch!” It’s a phrase that more than one man has screamed at a woman who has turned down his advances. If they are in a group of buddies, they will sometimes mutter something like, “She must be a dyke. Why wouldn’t she want this?” To which the group will mostly cheer and try to rally the fallen one. It’s a gross miscarriage of what actually happened and needs to stop. There are a couple of memes going around social media that should help clear up the confusion that seems to happen.

Let's Talk About Consent
This piece is my view on #consent. It is the first of a series of essays breaking down the poem "My Truth" to address in depth the social problems I refer to in that poem. If you haven't read it yet, please do. It'll give you context for this piece. Thanks :)

Child Marriage
This is a speech I wrote and delivered for an audience of 14/15-year-old girls and boys: Could you imagine being married in the next three years? Could you imagine being forced to be married in the next three years? Well, 28 girls every minute live this reality. Girls Not Brides aims to stop child marriage for boys and girls by campaigning to raise the legal age for marriage to 18.
