Bologna Singles' Bridge has its own Official Cocktail

Bologna in particular and Italy in general have a New Cocktail. Its name is Parsifal and is the original Creation by Chief Barman Celestino Salmi who decided to tribute Bologna Singles Bridge with a fresh, delicate and violet-coloured drink that got launched during the ‘Parsifal Cocktail Party’ last Friday 11th April at Caffè & Tortellini Lounge Bar in Bologna.

WHAT IS THE SINGLES BRIDGE?

The Singles Bridge is the Bolognese lovelocks phenomenon organized by Journalist and Singer Rossella Regina that almost 20 years ago anonymously decided to launch in her adoptive City of Bologna (she’s from the South of Italy, Calabria) an initiative similar to Ponte Milvio in Rome, but specifically dedicated to Single Souls.

After hanging her first padlock at the gate upon the river Reno in City Center (Via Oberdan, exactly), and spreading press releases and info online, Rossella’ Singles Bridge turned in to reality and today, because of the massive Tourism in Bologna, represents a real Attraction Point for anyone passing by besides Single, Lovers and common Walkers.

Besides receiving a first Tribute by Master Chef Vincenzo Proto who created ‘Rossella’s Padlocks’, Thick Spaghetti with red turnip sauce, pranws tartare and pistachio grains served with edible wildflowers, Chief Barman Celestino Salmi, already known for several Sector Prizes such as Chevalier du Champagne Qualification and Angostura Global Cocktail Challenge Winner, decided to create a new original recipe with the participation of his Mentor Luciano Trevisani, Parsifal.

WHY THIS NAME?

Parsifal is one of King Arthur Knights who got admitted to the Round Table and to the quest for the Grail because of his pure heart. So Chief Barman Celestino seems to invite with his Cocktail all Love-Padlocks’Hangers to preserve Heart Purity as the main formula to reach their Soulmates.

Gin Bombay, Parfait Amour (Violet liqueur), Lime, Sugar Cane and PeachTree (Peach liquer): this is the way Parsifal can come to life and delight its Tasters. The result is a smooth, sweet and purple drink on the rocks decorated by edible red hearts, candied cherry and gold heart-locks.

I’m really astonished by Celestino’s Creation. He gave life not only to this cocktail but organized also an amazing Party with the collaboration of Caffè & Tortellini’s Owner Pietro Mercuro I’ll be grateful forever.

During the Parsifal Cocktail Party Davide Polazzi (Guitar and Voice) and Gabriele Bolognesi (Saxophone and Bass) performed very good music inviting Rossella to join them in very appreciated Trio/Duo and Single performances.

WHAT’S HAPPENING NEXT?

While Rossella is still waiting for an answer by Bologna City Council about the request for an official plaque qualifying ‘Her Bridge’ (that she would consider also being re-named in view of that fact that, nowadays, is for Everybody and no more for Single only), a known Pastry Chef of the City announced to be interested in tributing a dessert to Bologna Love-Locks’ phenomenon.

Chockolate? Cream? Heart-shaped? What’s gonna be like? Nobody knows, for the moment… So, just keep waiting while eating and drinking ‘Rossella’s Padlocks’ and Parsifal, of course!
