When baseball fans think of the word October, the first thing that doesn't cross their minds isn't pumpkin spice everything (never understood why it's so popular this time of year) or leaves falling on the ground. When us baseball fans think of the word October, we're talking about the Postseason. The Postseason can be unpredictable, because you'll never know what to expect. The two remaining teams face a final test: the World Series, a seven-game series where the team who wins four games will hoist the Commissioner's Trophy up high and a player is named World Series MVP. I'll be highlighting four teams (two from the American and two from the National League) that might win a World Series title.

Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays have surprised everyone this season, because baseball fans expected them to have another sub-.500 year. As of the writing of this story, they have a slight lead over the Yankees in the AL West. The Blue Jays won back-to-back World Series titles in 1992 and 1993. Sure, it's been over three decades since accomplishing this feat, but they're determined to add another one to their trophy case. Also, will Future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer get his third World Series ring? The 41-year-old won World Series titles with the Nationals and Rangers in 2019 and 2023 respectively. He's a three-time Cy Young Award Winner and an eight-time All-Star. His impressive resume is good enough to be a first-ballot Hall of Fame selection, and we might see him inducted into Cooperstown in the next several years. The Blue Jays and Yankees are fighting neck-to-neck vying for the AL West crown. We shall see who will reign supreme with less than three weeks to go in the regular season.

Seattle Mariners

Currently holding on to the final Wild Card spot, the Seattle Mariners are facing a hectic schedule. AL MVP candidate Cal Raleigh has been having the time of his life. They're one of the few teams without a World Series title. While their bats have been red hot, the only concern I have with them is their starting rotation. The pitching hasn't been their best this season, but hopefully, they can overcome this hurdle, if they were to make it to the playoffs.

San Diego Padres

This NL West team currently holds the second of the three Wild Card spots with a record of 79-65. However, they are behind the Dodgers in their division by one game. I chose them to win the division before the season began, because I feel that the Dodgers' reign as NL West Champions will come to an end. As for the Padres, I love their positive vibe and fanbase. They have never won a World Series title, but that long drought might end with winning their first championship.

New York Mets

The Mets currently hold the third and final Wild Card spot with a record of 76-68, but they are eight games behind of the Phillies in the NL East. Last year, they made it to the NLCS, only to be eliminated by the Dodgers, who would go on to win the World Series. During the offseason, Juan Soto's record-breaking contract caused a lot of controversy, with many calling it ridiculous. I've discussed this in previous stories, and I heavily disagreed with it. I hope his contract is worth him winning World Series title. Otherwise, the Mets organization will have to answer some difficult questions. Soto has won a World Series title with the Nationals in 2019, alongside Max Scherzer and Trea Turner, who currently plays for the Phillies. The Mets are hoping to win their first World Series title since 1986. The last time they were in the Fall Classic was 2015, where they lost to the Kansas City Royals. They'll face a lot of tough competition as the season winds down and the Postseason not too far away.
