Warriors vs Celtics (After 2022)

The Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors met in the 2022 NBA finals culminating in 6 game victory in the Warriors’ favor. This wasn’t the first time these two teams played each other on the biggest stage but it was the most recent finals matchup between the two franchises.

The warriors recently played the Celtics in what was an absolute thriller matchup, which got me thinking. These two franchises play each twice every season, and since their finals bout they’ve played each other on 5 different occasions. Lets go through every Celtics vs Warriors battle since game 6 of the Finals.

December 10, 2022 (107 vs 123):

The first matchup since the finals. The Celtics have started the season on a very hot start 21-5 leading the eastern conference whereas Golden State is hovering around .500 with a slow 13-13 start (good enough for 11th in the west) but dont let the team records fool you because the dubs performed in championship form in this game. Klay Thompson poured in 34 points and his splash brother Steph curry and 32 of his won on route to a 123-107 win.

January 19, 2023 (118 vs 121 OT):

The Celtics were hungry for revenge and Tatum didn’t disappoint at home, he went off for 34 points while grabbing 19 rebounds but Golden State didn’t go down without a fight, they forced over time in a down to the wire brawl in boston ultimately losing 118 to 121. This ties the tally 1-1 between these teams in their last matchup in the 2023 season.

December 19, 2023 (126 vs 132):

Its a new season in Oracle arena, another clutch battle, this time marcus smart was swapped out for jrue holiday but it made no difference as steph curry continued to be unstoppable in the 4th quarter where he scored 13 of his 33 points winning 132-126 in OT. Jayson tatum struggled tallying up only 15 points on 5/17 shooting from the field.

That puts the tally at 2-1

March 3, 2024 (88 vs 140):

The Celtics look unstoppable as they are dominating the rest of the NBA and Curry, klay and the rest of the warriors would get a front row seat to the mixture of elite offense and defense executed by Coach Joe Mazula’s club. The Cs would beatdown the dubs in a finals score of 140 to 88, they scored 82 points in the first half! And shut down the warriors starter while they were at it holding curry to a measly 4 points, klay Thompson to 6 and Draymond green to 6. Tatum and brown and 27 and 29 respectively tallying up most of those points before halftime in a statement win.

November 6, 2024 (118 vs 112):

This brings us to the most recent game. The Celtics are looking to repeat as NBA champions while the warriors are getting their run with a completely new roster after the loss of Klay Thompson.

This was an intense game between both teams tatum scored 32, curry had 27 and 4 steals and derrick white came out swinging with 26 of his own but the unsung here for the dubs was Buddy Hield (their Klay Thompson replacement) who hit the dagger 3 giving the warriors the win in TD Garden.

The final tally is 3-2 in the warriors favour with one game between these two teams left in the season, although there is the slight possibility of a matchup in both the Emirates cup or maybe even in the NBA finals (?) but that remains to be seen. All in all whats undeniable is that when these two Franchises play one another in ends in some beautifully competitive basketball.
