Jewel Spear - Wake Forest

Wake Forest's Jewel Spear averaged 32.5 points on 52 percent shooting in two games last week. The 5-10 sophomore guard scored 40 points in a win over East Tennessee State. She hit 14 of her 25 shot attempts and nailed 10 of 11 threes in that win on Dec. 13. The next game against South Carolina State, Spear made five of 11 threes on her way to a double-double. She scored 25 points, with 10 rebounds and a season high five assists.

Maddy Siegrist - Villanova

Villanova improved to 5-5 after Maddy Siegrist led the team to an upset win over No. 23 Oregon State on Dec. 12. The 6-1 junior forward scored 28 points and pulled down nine rebounds, just missing her second straight double-double. She hit a season high three three-point shots on seven attempts. She also made seven of eight free-throw attempts. After scoring just 21 points in her first two games, Siegrist is averaging 21.3 points after her first four games. She is also averaging 10.3 rebounds per contest.

Vivian Gray - Texas Tech

Texas Tech has played nine games but Vivian Gray has only competed in just three. Last week she returned to the court to score 23 points in a win over UNLV. Gray made half of her 20 shot attempts. She also pulled down six boards, blocked three shots, dished out three assists and stole the ball twice. Last season she averaged 20 points in 24 appearances in her first season at Texas Tech. She played her first two collegiate seasons at Oklahoma State. So far this season she is averaging 17 points in her first three contests.

Amber Leggett - Troy

Amber Leggett recorded two double-doubles last week, leading Troy to wins over Alabama-Huntsville and Mississippi State. The 5-11 junior forward posted a season high 29 points on 11-17 shooting against Alabama-Huntsville. She grabbed 10 rebounds in that game with two steals. Against Mississippi State, Leggett had 13 points and 15 rebounds. Leggett is in her first season at Troy after playing her first three seasons at Sam Houston State.

Mackenzie Holmes - Indiana

Forward Mackenzie Holmes led Indiana to a 20-point beat down over Ohio State. She scored a season high 30 points in the road win, making 13 of 19 shots. She also stopped the Buckeyes on defense with five blocks and a steal to go with seven rebounds. After her first 10 games of the season, Holmes averaged 18.5 points on 61 percent shooting. Over her last three games she has shot 29-39 from the field. She's also shot an impressive 10-12 from the free-throw line.

Aliyah Lawson - Coppin State

Aliyah Lawson shot 12-29 in her three-point attempts in two games for Coppin State last week. She scored 16 points with four rebounds and three assists in a loss to Georgetown, Dec. 13. She came back to lead her team to a win over Winthrop as she shot 7-13 from three with 21 points and four steals on Dec. 16. Lawson, a 5-7 senior, is averaging 12.7 points per game after her first 11 games of the season.

Jayda Curry - California

Freshman Jayda Curry is having one of the best rookie seasons in all of the NCAA. The 5-6 guard is averaging 20.3 points per game after her first 10 games. On Dec. 18, Curry shot 8-13, including 4-6 from three on her way to 27 points in a win over Cal Poly. She also stole the ball a season high three times in the win. Curry has scored at least 20 points in half of her first 10 games. She has scored at least 12 points in every game.

Ketsia Athias - Iona

Iona is of to a slow start at 2-4 but Ketsia Athias put up a strong performance last week. She scored 20 points on 10-15 shooting in a loss to Monmouth. She also hauled down 10 rebounds with one block and a steal. This was her first double-double of the season.
