Kierstan Bell - Florida Gulf Coast
Just when you thought Kierstan Bell was cooling off, she steps up to let you know that she is very much still one of the top scorers in the NCAA. On Nov. 26, she scored a season best 39 points in a win over Tennessee Tech. After that she went four games without scoring over 19 points until Dec. 20.
In an 85-84 overtime home win over Michigan State, last Monday, Bell posted 28 points, in a shootout that featured a 50-point outburst by Nia Clouden of the visiting team. The next game was an 86-50 win over High Point, where Bell scored 30 points with 12 rebounds and three blocked shots. She shot 11-18 from the field in the win. Florida Gulf Coast is off to an 11-1 start.
Macee Williams - IUPUI
Macee Williams led IUPUI to its first win over a ranked opponent, when it defeated 15th ranked Iowa 74-73, Dec. 21. The 6-2 senior forward/center scored 19 points making eight of her 12 shot attempts. She also had seven rebounds and three assists. Williams is averaging 16.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. She is shooting 63 percent from the field in her first seven games of the season.
Andra Espinoza-Hunter - Seton Hall
For the third time this year, Andra Espinoza-Hunter has earned our National Player of the Week honor. She hit half of her 34 shots from the field in two games last week. She scored 16 points with seven points, four assists and two blocks in a win against Marquette, Dec. 19.
On Dec. 21, Hunter scored 20 points with 11 rebounds in a victory against Wagner. She also tied her season high with four assists for the third straight game. The senior also recorded a season high three steals and two blocks. Hunter is averaging 17.4 points and a career high 6.4 rebounds per game after 10 games this season.
Felmas Koranga - Troy
Troy forward Felmas Koranga started the week a bit slow with just seven points and two rebounds in a blowout win over South Carolina State. A day later on Dec. 20, Koranga got to work in a victory over Jackson State. She scored 22 points, ripped down 17 boards and just missed a triple-double with seven steals.
Koranga also had three blocks and a season high three assists. The 6-1 junior is averaging 13.1 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.
Eylia Love - Georgia Tech
Sophomore guard/forward Eylia Love had her best back-to-back shooting performances last week. She shot 50 percent in a win over Wake Forest, Dec. 19. Love scored 16 points with four rebounds and two assists. She also shot a perfect 2-2 from the field and 2-2 from the free-throw line.
Love came back two days later to score 19 points while shooting 70 percent in a win over Boston University. In that win she grabbed five rebounds with two assists. She shot 2-4 from three in that contest. After 12 games this season she is averaging 11.1 points and making 52 percent of her threes.
Maya Dodson - Notre Dame
After a pedestrian performance in an easy win over Pitt where Maya Dodson posted six points, Dec. 19. On Dec. 22, Dodson scored a season high 28 points in a 91-86 win over DePaul. She shot 13-21 from the field while grabbing eight rebounds.
It was her second time scoring over 20 points this season. She also scored 25 in the season opening win over Ohio. Dodson is averaging career highs of 11.1 points, seven rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game in her first season at Notre Dame after three years at Stanford.
