Pitt outlasts Baylor, Bruins maul Jackets

Missouri 3, Northern Kentucky 0
After beating South Dakota 3-1, Friday evening, in the Cardinal Classic at Louisville, Northern Kentucky's (2-2) two-match win streak was halted by Missouri (1-4) in a sweep 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-20). Like usual Anna Brinkmann led Northern Kentucky with 13 kills. Joy Banks was second with 10, while Sequoia Hunt registered eight kills on a team best .357 hitting percentage. Missouri was stronger than the Norse at the net with 11 blocks, while limiting Northern Kentucky to zero blocks. The Tigers' Nicole Alford led all players with 33 assists. She also shared a game high three blocks assisted with teammate Kayla Burbage, who led Missouri with a .455 hitting percentage, tallying six kills on 11 attempts. Kaylee Cox led the Tigers with 11 kills.
Ohio State 3, Texas Tech 0
Ohio State, which entered the match ranked sixth in the nation, improved to 5-0 against host Texas Tech, which dropped to 5-2 in a 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-13) decision. Mac Podraza's 40 assists was a match high for Ohio State as she set up her teammates Emily Londot, who recorded 12 kills and Gabby Gonzales who posted 11. Gonzales had a blazing hitting percentage of .611. She also was second on the team with nine digs. Kylie Murr led all players with 17 digs. Arica Davis collected six kills on .500 hitting to go along with a team best three blocks. As Ohio State hit .414 as a team, Texas Tech struggled at .140. Samantha Sanders had eight kills for the Red Raiders.
UCLA 3, Georgia Tech 1
Charitie Luper and Mac May combined for 33 of UCLA's 54 kills as the Bruins (4-0) put down Georgia Tech 3-1 (25-11, 25-22, 25-27, 25-11) in Long Beach, California. Luper led all players with 17 kills to go along with eight digs. May tallied the game's Bruins' only double-double posing 16 kills and 11 digs. UCLA's Anna Dodson led all players with six blocks. Georgia Tech had two players with double-doubles as Mariana Brambilla had 17 kills and 12 digs and Julia Bergmann had 13 kills and 12 digs. On Friday night UCLA swept both Long Beach State and Portland State.
Long Beach State 3, Portland State 0
Long Beach State climbed back to 3-3 with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-22) win over Portland State (1-4). Kameron Bacon led Long Beach with seven blocks assisted. Avery Nelson had five blocks to go along with seven kills on a .316 hitting percentage. Kashauna Williams posted a team best 11 kills while having six digs. Nicole Hoff led the winning team with 14 digs. Portland State's Ellie Snook shared the game lead with Hoff as she collected 14 digs as well. Parker Webb and Gabby Hollins had a team high eight kills each for Portland State.
Colorado State 3, North Carolina State 1
Colorado State (1-3) won for the first time this season as it downed North Carolina State (2-4) 3-1 (30-28, 18-25, 25-23, 25-23) in front of 521 fans. The Rams' Alexa Roumeliotis had a game high 26 digs and Ciera Prtichard led the team with 43 assists and 14 digs. Kennedy Stanford had a double-double with 16 kills and 10 digs. North Carolina State was led by Jade Parchment's 19 kills. Kristen McDaniel had 46 assists and 19 digs for the Wolfpack.
Pitt 3, Baylor 2
The seventh ranked Pitt (4-0) toppled ninth ranked Baylor (1-3) 3-2 (25-17, 17-25, 23-25, 25-19, 15-11) in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Panthers overcame a 2-1 deficit behind Kayla Lund's 21 kills on 37 attempts. Her .432 hitting percentage was second on the team behind Sabrina Starks' .636 hitting clip that she recorded while posting seven kills on 11 attempts. Chinaza Ndee also had 15 kills for Pitt. Baylor's Yossiana Pressley had 20 kills and 10 digs in the defeat. The Bears' setter Hannnah Sedwick recorded 42 kills and 15 digs.
