Brisco fastest at USATF Open 100 meters
Mikiah Brisco won the 100 meters at the USATF Open, Tuesday, May 18 in Fort Worth, Texas. The 24-year-old sprinter from the United States recorded a time of 11.42. Brisco won the final ahead of runner-up Jamaican sprinter Veronica Campbell-Brown who clocked in at 11.55 and American Caitland Smith who finished at 11.60 for third place.
A 60 meters champ at last year's National Indoor Championship with a time of 7.04, Brisco captured her first 100 meters win of the season after placing second at the Battle on the Bayou and the Boots Garland Invitational before placing third at the LSU Alumni Gold, last month. She started this month with another runner-up finish at the LSU Invitational. In the preliminary round of the USATF Open, Brisco ran 11.40, which was the fastest time of the day. Her best time of the season was 11.02 at the LSU Alumni Gold meet in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Vets Felix, Beard topple younger competition in 400
Famed sprinter Allyson Felix raced to a time of 50.88, as the 35-year-old bested the field during the third and fastest heat of the 400 meters at the USATF Open. Felix, a 400 meters silver medalist at the 2016 Olympics and world champ in 2015 finished ahead of fellow United States sprinter Jessica Beard (51.31). They were two of three Americans in the heat, and the only two runners over the age of 30. Beard, 32, has been a top 400 meters runner during her career as well. She won the NCAA championship in 2011, at Texas A&M. She was also a sliver medalist at the World U20 Championships back in 2008. Prior to this meet she earned wins this season at the USATF Sprint Summit and Tom Jones Memorial Invitational. This was Felix's first 400 meters race of the year.
Chrisann Gordon of Jamaica ran a time of 51.42 to place third.

What ever happened to Kendall Baisden?
American Kendall Baisden competed in the first heat where she placed second in the 400 meters at the USATF Open at 53.04. She was the runner-up to Nigerian sprinter Patience Okon George. Baisden, 26, ran her best time of the season as all of her other 400 meters races this year were finished at 53.33 and higher. Back in 2014, Baisden was one the top up and coming 400 meters runners in the world. She won the gold at the World U20 Championships at 51.85, while also being a member of the 1,600-meters relay that took first as well. It was her second time winning gold in the 1,600-meters relay at the World U20 Championships as she did the same in 2012.
Camacho-Quinn collects 100 hurdles win
Puerto Rican hurdler Jasmine Camacho-Quinn and American Christina Clemons both ran 12.88 during the prelim round of the 100-meter hurdles at the USATF Open. In the final, Camacho-Quinn, 24, outlasted Clemons, who will be turning 31 later this month. Camacho-Quinn finished at 12.84, Clemons crossed the line at 12.92 as both competitors dominated the final. Queen Clay of the United States ran the third fastest time at 13.21 in the field of nine hurdlers.
