Top Scoring Players on Fantasy Football (Week 2)
Analyzing the highest scoring players, by position, during Week 2 of the 2024 season

Week 2 was a tad better for me than Week 1 was in Fantasy Football. After winning three of my eight matchups on Week 1, Week 2 saw me win half of my matchups, and two of my teams are 2-0. Quite a few key fantasy performances took place during Week 2, and they really made some owners very pleased. Well, unless they were playing against them, then they were probably tearing their hair out and saying that their season was over.
In any event, who were the top fantasy scorers for Week 2? Here's the list:
QB: Kyler Murray

Here's how fantasy scoring works for quarterbacks: 1 point per every 25 passing yards (or 0.04 points per passing yard), and passing touchdowns are 4 points each. Interceptions are usually a 1 point deduction, and lost fumbles are a 2 point deduction. For Week 2, the highest scoring QB was Kyler Murray, who led the Cardinals in blowing out the Rams. Murray threw for 266 yards (10.64 points), 3 touchdowns (12 points), and ran for 59 yards (5.9 points), for a grand total of 28.54 points. Mind you, this was in three quarters; Murray was done after the Rams were fully destroyed.
RB: Alvin Kamara

While Derek Carr was Week 2's third highest scoring QB on fantasy, the top nod for running backs clearly went to Alvin Kamara, and it wasn't even close. Fantasy scoring for running backs goes like this: 1 point per 10 rushing yards, and touchdowns are 6 points. Receiving scoring rules also apply; 1 point per 10 receiving yards, and touchdowns are 6 points, and there's also PPR (Points Per Reception). Kamara ran for 115 yards (11.5 points) and 3 touchdowns (18 points), and also caught 2 passes (2 points) for 65 yards (6.5 points) and a touchdown (6 points), for a grand total of 44 fantasy points! No other running back had 30 fantasy points, though surprisingly, Devon Achane was second with 29.5 points.
WR: Marvin Harrison, Jr.

What a bounce back for Marvin Harrison, Jr.! Going from only having one reception in Week 1 to leading receivers in fantasy scoring in Week 2! Scoring for WRs goes like this: PPR is applied, and most leagues awards a full point per reception. Also, it's 1 point for every 10 receiving yards, and touchdowns are 6 points each. Regarding the younger Harrison, he had 4 receptions (4 points) for 130 yards (13 points) and 2 touchdowns (12 points), totalling 29 fantasy points! Like father, like son. It was a pretty close cluster for WRs in Week 2; Harrison edged DK Metcalf by one-tenth of a point, and Malik Nabers had only 0.3 less than Harrison.
TE: George Kittle

See, if George Kittle had more games like this, I wouldn't be so skittish about drafting him. Scoring for tight ends is the same for wide receivers, and Kittle took the top nod for TEs in Week 2. For Kittle, seven receptions (7 points), 76 yards (7.6 points), and a touchdown (6 points), totalling 20.6 points in Week 2. A close second was Hunter Henry with 18.9 points, while Brock Bowers had 18.8 points. A good week for tight ends as well.
K: Austin Seibert

To the shock of absolutely no one, Austin Seibert took the top scoring nod for kickers in Week 2. Here's how scoring for kickers goes: extra points are 1 point, of course. Regarding field goals, those under 40 yards are worth 3 points, 40-49 yard FGs are worth 4 points, and those 50 yards or longer are worth 5 points. Seibert made seven field goals--six of them from under 40 (18 points) and one from the 40s range (4 points), totalling 22 points. Seibert managed to lead in this category despite making no 50-yard FGs. Ka'imi Fairbairn made three from the 50s range, but was second in scoring in Week 2 with 20 fantasy points.
DEF: Buffalo Bills

Here's how scoring for team defenses goes. Regarding scoring defenses, a shutout is 10 points, giving up 1-6 points is 7 points, giving up 7-13 points is 4 points, giving up 14-20 points is 1 point, giving up 21-27 points is no points, giving up 28-34 point is a 1 point deduction, and giving up at least 35 points is a 4 point deduction. Elsewhere, sacks are 1 point, interceptions are 2 points, safeties are 2 points, fumble recoveries are 2 points, blocked kicks are 2 points, and touchdowns are 6 points. For Week 2, it's the Buffalo Bills who had the top scoring defense. They gave up 10 points (4 points), and had 2 sacks (2 points), 3 interceptions (6 points), and a touchdown (6 points), for a grand total of 18 points overall. Houston's defense was a close second with 15 points, while Pittsburgh had 13 points.
Unfortunately, I do not have any of these players on any of my teams, but those who did, well, they really had a hell of a week!
