The Drop of Estrogen Among a Sea of Testosterone, Part 1
It's a fact, there aren't as many female sports reporters out there in the mainstream media, especially in the male-dominated world of sports journalism. Even when I was at an NHL press conference last week, in a room of about 25 to 30 reporters, only THREE of us were females.

The Generation of Buried Talent
I heard something today that stopped me in my tracks. As those close to me may know, I run a basketball personal training business called First Seed Athletics. I was on my way out of a training session, proud of the great work my athlete had just accomplished. We had been focusing heavily on footwork going towards the rim, which takes some serious attention to detail. The next group in the facility was a soccer team, and they began by running sprints. One player’s mom dropped him off late to practice and waited with him while the boy put on his shoes. As she looked in the gym, I heard the woman tell her son something that is far too revealing of how our next generation is being raised. “Looks like they are running hard already, better slow down putting on your shoes.” WHAT!?

The Lonely Sports. Top Story - May 2018.
People love to talk about the "community" aspect of sports. They talk about the sense of belonging that comes from being part of a team, about the human instinct to work together and how sports facilitate that. They talk about teamwork and fulfillment and friendship and trust. But those are the sociable sports—the team sports.

Music City Is a Sports Town
Nashville, Tennessee, A.K.A. Music City. This southern metropolis has been the dream of every starry-eyed wannabe singer/songwriter that wants to make it big for decades. Well, not anymore! OK, so a ton of people who want a break in the music industry still move to Nashville all the time, but that's not the point of this, now is it? Nashville has shown that this city deeply cares about her sports teams (yes, a city is referred to in the feminine tense, much like ships and lake monsters; shoutout to How I Met Your Mother on that).

10 of the All-Time Coolest Jerseys in Sports. Top Story - April 2018.
Stadiums and jerseys are not given as much attention as players and coaches are by the media. However, they can be just as big a part of the team as any star player—maybe even more so. Many of baseball's most beautiful ballparks have name and brand recognition that are known by millions of people, and the same can be said for jerseys. Whether it be the design, color scheme, style, or hidden meaning in the logo, they are recognized around the world and are sewn into the identity and reputation of the team.

Countries With the Most Winter Olympic Medals
Norway is certainly the front-runner when it comes to the Winter Olympics, but who else ranks among the best? From Norway to Russia, these are the top countries with the most winter Olympic medals.

Why Your Sports Team's Loss Is Bad for You
This might be considered a character flaw, but I'll admit it. My mood depends mightily on the successes (or failures) of the University of North Carolina's sports teams. During the fall, I'm elated when the Tar Heel football team wins on Saturdays. In the winter, I'm crushed when Carolina's basketball team drops a game that ought to have been a victory (especially when the Heels lose to the despised Duke Blue Devils). Finally, as temperatures rise and college baseball season progresses, my hopes of another trip to Omaha's College World Series are aroused. Perhaps I shouldn't allow 19-year-olds to determine my emotional well-being, but that's not likely to change any time soon.
