Turnovers Doom Tuskers at Kennedy Catholic Christmas Tournament
On Thursday December 21, Somers Traveled to St Mary’s in Katonah, New York for the annual Kennedy Catholic Christmas tournament. Facing the Kennedy girls in the first round, the Somers Tuskers turned out to be way too giving, and the hosts were definitely no help.

In the previous century, when Somers and JFK (Kennedy Catholic) matched up, bragging rights made the competing campuses sizzle, and as the son of Somers basketball coach Mike DePaoli, Gerard DePaoli recalled the times at the tournament that bears his father’s name. “It was a little more wild, I remember the way it used to be,” said the 1982 grad on Saturday December 16, and so maybe with a little nostalgia in mind, the Kennedy Catholic-Somers rivalry has been reborn.

John Jay Falls 50-26 to Rye
Too see slideshow click the arrow on the above image On Wednesday December 6 at the high school, John Jay watched Rye score 13 straight points to open a ten point second quarter lead. Still, John Jay fought back and closed to 20-17, but ultimately, Rye was too much for the young Wolf team.

Somers Opens Season with Victory Over Eastchester
After Lindsay McCullough went glass to get the first points of the season on Friday December 9, visiting Eastchester scored nine straight. So the Tuskers obviously needed a reset. “We had to calm down, pull ourselves together and make sure we played good defense and rebounded the ball,” said Olivia Allegretti. The agenda laid out, the Tuskers delivered.

New Look Wolves Open Basketball Season with a Win over North Salem
With no starters returning from last year’s team, the boys basketball team completely turned the page against North Salem on Wednesday, November 29. So being a little shaky at the start was not a surprise. A 41-35 lead with less than six minutes remaining was, though. Unfortunately, the game went to overtime, and momentum and a lack of experience didn’t bode well. But these new look Wolves missed the memo.

John Jay Girls Basketball falls 41-30 to Lakeland
The last time the John Jay Wolves faced the Lakeland Hornets, the girls pulled out a 55-44 first round sectional one win. A year later, the team roster has almost completely turned over, but a 10-9 second quarter game looked like a pretty good start for the young Wolves team. That is until inexperience caught up with the girls on Friday, December 1 at the Lakaland home court
