Why Westbrook Winning a Title Will Be a Miracle in Itself
At the start of the season, I saw that the Oklahoma City Thunder MIGHT have found an answer for Kevin Durant. They MAY challenge the Golden State dynasty in the Playoffs. They COULD rival the new Big 3 in Oakland. What transpired, was that every player that has left the Thunder has gotten BETTER, and it is all down to one man. Number 0. Now don't get me wrong, before the Warriors eventual title win with Kevin Durant, I thought that OKC were prime to make another title run. I thought that this was the new Big 3. I thought that the Miami dynasty with James, Wade, and Bosh was in jeopardy. I thought the West was finally making a comeback and taking away the East dominance from LeBron. I wasn't to be. Harden left for Houston and is an MVP candidate, Durant at Golden State and is a Champion and Finals MVP, and Westbrook is chasing rebounds and solo accomplishments.

Dreams and Nightmares
At the age of seven or eight, I started to play basketball. As a kid I played a lot of sports, but that day, when I touched the orange ball...I felt a connection. You know it's sometimes that you have that feeling in your guts showing you, in a way, that this ball, this sport, IS your destiny. Even though I was a child, I knew what I wanted to be when I grow up. A professional basketball player. Yeah. I was sure. I started at a team in our town, made some friends for a lifetime, and it felt good having my teammates as my best friends. I felt more secure and good about myself, as a kid that wasn't very social. Days, weeks, months, years going by, years of hard work, sweat, pain, wins, and losses, someone saw me at a game where I dropped 25 points and told me, "I want you to try out for the team before the national team." OH BOY, was I excited. Who would've thought that I would have that opportunity? And without asking my parents, I instantly said, "I'll be there sir."

The Road Not Taken. Top Story - April 2018.
It’s rare that a team is able to build itself through the draft and find a bonafide superstar to anchor the franchise. The Seattle Supersonics turned Oklahoma City Thunder were able to find three in as many consecutive drafts from 2007-2009 with Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden. The Thunder had the makings of being perennial championship contenders for years to come. They achieved great team success during their time together, including an NBA Finals appearance; the only one in OKC’s franchise history. After their successful 2012 season, Harden was traded to the Houston Rockets after being unable to reach a contract agreement. This was the end for them as a trio, who at one point was walking down the same path of greatness together are now playing on opposing sides, going after the same goal.

If You're on the Fence About Leaving Your Sport: Read This
From the moment I could walk, I had a basketball in my hands. Of course, I tried almost every sport under the sun from softball to soccer to volleyball but in the end, I knew basketball was my sport. In middle school, I was a leading scorer and in 8th grade, made the game-winning shot to win the championship. During travel ball in the summer, I got more MVP and All-Tournament trophies and medals than could fit on my shelves. In high school, I helped lead my school to the first district championship in girl's basketball and by my senior year, to their first state championship appearance. A lot more happened from my freshman year to my senior year. My name was in the paper, I was interviewed and posted about online, and I played in multiple All-Star games even after my senior season was over. That's just the short version.

Are Superteams Good for Sports?
Sport produces two types of fans. The casual fan who will take in a game for leisure or simply the aesthetic of the sport. And then you have the die-hard. The die-hard is there week in and week out. They have jerseys, know the players' origin stories, and let them tell that they could run their organization better than management via their fantasy team. Super teams for both sets of fans have differing consequences. On the one hand, the casual fan who is only here to be entertained enjoys the dominance that the Golden State Warriors bring to the table. The die-hard outside of Oakland, of course, hates this scenario. Parity in sport has always been ideal to maximize interest and so profits. The more teams with a realistic chance to reach the pinnacle means a healthy league and in turn a profitable one. While the notion of multiple Hall of Famers joining forces is not new, there is certainly a trend.
