Kentucky Wildcats Preview

As we march through 2022, the track and field season will be here before we know it. When December comes, Winners Only is usually at either Grand Valley State or Indiana covering some of the first indoor track meets of the season. Why wait until December. We're so ready for the track and field season that we're starting our previews in the early days of autumn. Take a break from your college football, NFL, Major League Baseball playoff pushes and even your college volleyball action. Let's take a peek at some of our favorite programs and athletes that we're most looking forward to seeing in 2023.
Karimah Davis
From Wellington, Florida, Karimah Davis is an interesting athlete to watch. She was a fourth of the NCAA record breaking 1,600-meter relay squad which included Abby Steiner, Alexis Holmes and Dajour Miles. With Holmes and Steiner gone, Davis is one of the programs brightest stars as she is expected to be one of the top 200 meters performers in the NCAA. Last season she and her teammates won the NCAA championship in the 1,600-meter relay. They set the 1,600-meter relay record at the SEC outdoor meet with a time of 3:21.93. During indoor season Davis earned two bronze medals, one in the 200 meters with a time of 22.79 and the 1,600-meter relay. She went on to compete in the 200 meters and 1,600-meter relay at the NCAA indoor championship meet. Davis earned another bronze at the NCAA championships in the 1,600-meter relay and placed sixth in the 200 meters final.
Annika Williams
A senior from Clavert, Texas, Annika Williams has been a steady performer during her All-American career at Kentucky. In 2021 she earned All-American honors by placing sixth in the pentathlon at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships. She scored a career best 4,173 points at the championship meet. During the 2021 outdoor season Williams became an All-American again taking second team honors after placing 11th with a mark of 1.81 at the NCAA outdoor meet. In 2022, Williams qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Round in the long jump.
Dajour Miles
From Aurora, Illinois, Dajour Miles is a multiple time All-American who is one of the top talents at Kentucky. She is one of two returning members of the NCAA record setting 1,600-meter relay squad including Karimah Davis. Miles earned her first NCAA championship with that unit. She also captured a bronze medal with that crew at the NCAA indoor meet. In 2021, Miles was a First-Team All-American in the 1,600-meter relay and a Second-Team All-American in the 400-meter relay. During the indoor season in 2021, Miles won a silver medal in the 1,600-meter relay at the SEC Championships before competing at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in the 1,600-meter relay with a fifth-place finish. She also participated in the preliminary round of the 200 meters.
DeAnna Martin
Another very experienced performer, senior DeAnna Martin is a distance runner from Valley Stream, New York. Over the years Martin has competed in the Distance Medley Relay, 800 meters and 1,500 meters at the SEC championships during her career. Last season she competed in the 800 meters at the NCAA East Preliminary Round for the first time of her career. During last indoor season Martin recorded second place finishes in the 800 meters and 1,000 meters at the Jim Green Track & Field Invitational and Louisville Cardinal Classic respectively.
