Steph Curry joins all-time list by adding gold

The all-time best-player debates can often be clouded by silliness and aspects that don't have to do with the game itself. Everyone has their own criteria, and in truth, it's an impossible circular discussion to have between the likes of Steph Curry, LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and other worthy players. That being said, players who are often a part of these conversations tend to have a lot of similarities.

And for something that has a lot of objectivity, accomplishments, and accolades are often used as an equalizer. Therefore, the Golden State Warriors organization felt the need to share on social media and aspect to shine the overall career greatness of one of their current players. In the post, the former Davidson player was mentioned with James, Jordan, Bill Russell, and Magic Johnson as the only people to have four NBA rings, two League MVPs, and an Olympic gold medal.

Every team attempts to prop up their players. But shining a light on this achievement is something that fans of basketball should celebrate. Winning multiple championships goes far beyond a fluke and in itself would be worthy of praise. Being considered the league's best for multiple years regardless of what fans may think of the process itself is also deserving of mention. To add another tournament win during the Games, one of the highest levels of international play is something that is often overlooked.

But Team USA managed to survive the onslaught of competition. Furthermore, a newer outlook showcased itself. As mentioned, it's often dismissed in terms of the significance of winning gold. The competition is undervalued, and the significance is seen as overblown by many. However, as Paris 2024 showed many, this is a narrative that is likely to change. And this is not to take credit or to further the flames of debate between this era and past eras.

Regardless, it's a matter of fact that the overall competition from other nations has increased and that it's a tougher path to even get to the finals for any American team. It's no longer an easy road, and truthfully, it took the heroics of both Curry and James to not be embarrassed on the world stage. That isn't to suggest that another player wouldn't have been able to step up or that if, for example, Kawhi Leonard had been available, he wouldn't have been able to lead the team to victory.

But observers can only go with what actually happened. And the current Warrior showed how he's not only the best shooter in the world but one of the great offensive players of all time. Multiple times throughout the Olympics, he took it upon himself to lead his team and to carry the responsibility for the success of this roster. This could be one of many steps to elevate the accomplishment of the US team at this stage.

It took the old guard of players to carry the mantle this year, and even then, against Serbia in particular, things were closer than what many would have anticipated. The social media post is one of many attempts to show that good basketball, hustle, and heart, regardless of what format or on what stage, should be appreciated. It's unknown what the upcoming regular season will hold for this franchise.

Either way, this latest run by one of the great players of the organization and of all time serves as a moment of pride for those in the Bay Area. Steph Curry has limitations and faults just like anyone else, but looking back when the final chapter is written on his career in the summer of 2024 needs to be a highlighted part of the story.
