Mahomes on verge of being first black GOAT Quarterback

Patrick Mahomes could become the first black quarterback to win 2 Super Bowls

With the Super Bowl a couple days away, everyone is fixated with the idea of a 43 year old Tom Brady winning the Super Bowl.

What Tom Brady is doing is unprecedented and deserves all the acknowledgement he's receiving.

But the bigger story is that Patrick Mahomes is one win away from being the first black quarterback to win multiple Super Bowls. In the history of the NFL there have only been three black quarterbacks that have even won a Super Bowl, Doug Williams ( Washington Redskins), Russell Wilson (Seattle Seahawks) and Patrick Mahomes ( Kansas City Chiefs).

The point is its rare for a black man to win a Super Bowl as a team's quarterback.

The history that would will be made by Mahomes winning multiple Super Bowls is much bigger than just being the first to accomplish that feat. Winning a second Super Bowl puts Mahomes in a bigger conversation than just being the first black quarterbacks that has won multiple Super Bowls.

A win on Sunday will start to elevate in the GOAT( Greatest Of All Time) conversation. He will begin to be mentioned with the likes of Tom Brady, Joe Montana, John Elway etc... He may even pass the likes of Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers.

He will enter a room that no black quarterback has ever entered in the NFL history. For years many great black quarterbacks have picked at the lock of the door that's between black quarterbacks and the GOAT room. Mahomes opened the door last year and getting ready to take a step in the room come Sunday.

He will elevate to heights Warren Moon, Randall Cunningham and Donovan McNabb, weren't able to reach. In many ways they paved the way for Mahomes to be able to do what he's currently doing.

The last black quarterback that had an opportunity to win his second Super Bowl was Russell Wilson. Who was the quarterback that prevented him from a second trophy?

Tom Brady.

Its only fitting that Mahomes will have to beat Brady on Sunday to achieve what no other black quarterback has been able to achieve.

A Chiefs' victory on Sunday will solidify Mahomes. One Super Bowl victory, leaves room for questioning whether your an top tier all-time great, two Super Bowls eliminates most of those questions.

Yeah, Eli Manning and Ben Rothelisberger have two Super Bowls, but neither as ever been the best player in the NFL while winning those Super Bowls. Mahomes has been the best player in the NFL the last two years and is a couple days from having as many Super Bowls in as many years.

Without Mahomes the Chiefs are an average team at best. The things that Andy Reid and the Chiefs are able to do are predicated around Mahomes' elite arm strength, accuracy and feel for the game. There has never been a quarterback who has been able to excel in those three areas like Mahomes.

Before Mahomes when have you ever seen a quarterback throw a no-look pass? Watching Mahomes, I can honestly say I've never seen a quarterback like him.

Over the last couple years the stigmas being put on black Quarterbacks has changed. A teams quarterback now needs to be able to get out of the pocket a little in order to be successful in the NFL. There are more mobile quarterbacks in the NFL than ever. Mahomes is four quarters away from proving you can also build a dynasty with a black quarterback under center.

We seem to be close to a consensus that Tom Brady is the GOAT.

If Mahomes comes out victourious on Sunday, everyone may begin to ask for how long.
