They skated to a 2-1 third period lead, and while the outcome was in doubt, the bottom line wasn’t for Abigail Lehr of North Salem. “I would have been happy with a win or a loss, just as long as I’m with the girls I love,” Lehr assured. Just the same, the game still required a decision, and the Avalanche definitely had to sweat it out.

Am I the only one who saw the Four Nations Face Off as an epic two-week long dream? In place and stead of the NHL All-Star Game this year, we were treated to an amazing best-on-best tournament featuring the NHL's best from Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the United States. The countries faced each other in round robin games, with the standings being different than what we see in the NHL. Regulation wins were three points, overtime/shootout wins were two points, overtime/shootout losses were a single point, and of course, no points for regulation losses.

Recently, Hal Steinbrenner, son of the late Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, announced that the club will allow players to have facial hair. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) before the Yankees' Spring Training opener, he stated that it was the appropriate time to abolish the almost five-decade old policy. The rule, known as the Neatness Counts policy, was first instituted back in 1976 by George Steinbrenner and former manager Billy Martin, due to Steinbrenner's military background.
