The Wizards Come to Town and Lighten the Load
See video On Sunday afternoon February 4, The Harlem Wizards were in town, and the high school played host. Graciously accepting, the Wizards still came to play. But when basketball coach Tyler Sayre stepped in at tip off, the traveling troupe suddenly had pause, and a shift in strategy required, the actual tone was set for the day

Vocal Highlight: Rangers Nation
Nearly four months after the Texas Rangers won their first ever World Series title, I made a promise to myself in one of my stories I wrote about the Rangers that I would buy a jersey. Despite me being a Rangers fan for over 20 years, I've never had a baseball jersey in my life. Recently, I bought my first two Rangers jerseys, both of Future Hall of Famer, Max Scherzer. One of them was with the World Series Champions patch on the right sleeve. As you can see above, I'm proudly wearing one of my jerseys and with a witty caption. So you must be asking why Max Scherzer? I feel like he doesn't get enough praise for having a determined and never say die approach. He's won a World Series with the Washington Nationals in 2019 and another with the Rangers last November. Despite being hurt towards the end of last season and pitched in three innings of a few Postseason games, he gets the highest praise from me for being such an important part of the Rangers journey to their first World Series championship. These are the reasons why I chose to purchase two Max Scherzer jerseys.

Avalanche Game 59 Recap: Delay of Game
The Colorado Avalanche were coming off an overtime loss in Detroit against the Red Wings, and now, the team was back at home against another Original Six franchise: the Toronto Maple Leafs. This is the second and last regular season meeting between the two clubs; the first one saw the Leafs go up 3-0 in the first period, but the Avalanche came back and won it. This game aired on NHL Network, but despite the Avs being at home, it was the hallowed Hockey Night in Canada feed. I love Hockey Night in Canada. The first time I watched a HNIC game was in 2005-06, when I had NHL Center Ice. Hockey Night in Canada is a CBC staple during the regular season, airing every Saturday during the season, followed by exclusive playoff coverage from the first puck drop in Round 1, Game 1, to the moment the Stanley Cup is awarded.

John Jay/Somers/Yorktown Gymnastic Team is already in Stride
2022-23 Photos Please Click : The start of any new season always means the old reliables graduate from the scene and holes are definitely left to fill. The John Jay, Somers and Yorktown gymnastics team is no different, but head coach Teodora Cepoi is seemlessly taking the losses suffered in stride. “We have other kids coming up to replace our graduates,” she said, and so far the results prove it is not simply a coach being optimistic about the prospects for the season.

Life during wartime
Two years ago, Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine. In my usual job as a sports reporter, I don’t normally deal with major global events. Many people better qualified than me have written much about this war. However, a couple of months after the start of the invasion, I spoke to Olexander Peresunko, a hockey player from Ukraine, while he was representing his country at a World Championship Division IB tournament in Poland.

After going to Brewster on Wednesday January 3 and putting on a 63-22 hurt on the Bears, the Tuskers hosted Saunders on Saturday morning and could have been thrown by the early morning rise. But Somers came out with their trunks swinging and didn’t miss a beat.

Kayla Harrison is finally joining the UFC
Apologies for not writing in a while and even being very late in this reaction. Life behind the keyboard has been interesting to say the least. But Kayla making her way to the UFC is too important of a topic for me NOT to talk about before it's too late. Kayla Harrison is now officially in the UFC and will make her debut at UFC 300 in April against Holly Holm. This is MONSTEROUS news for the WMMA world and WMMA fans. I truly never expected this day to happen. I always thought Kayla would be another MMA "What-If", but nope she's now in the UFC.
