It's the Wedgewood That Makes it Good
The Colorado Avalanche were coming off an amazing win in San Jose against the Sharks; an interesting battle between the two goalies who were traded for each other: Mackenzie Blackwood and Alexandar Georgiev. So the Avs were 1-1 in the three-game road trip, and we concluded our trip to the Pacific Time Zone with a stop in the epicenter of Orange County, California: Anaheim. This meeting was the second of the season between the Avalanche and the Anaheim Ducks, with the first one taking place on October 18, with the Avs defeating the Ducks in OT for our first win of the season after a shocking 0-4 start.

The AFC Playoff Picture is Shaping Up
I do love Saturday football; I have since I was a kid. We don't get NFL games on Saturday until nearly the end of the season, and that's because it's by that time that college football is out of the way. I remember at one point, we would see four straight weeks of Saturday football, counting playoffs, but this year, we are being treated to five straight Saturdays of NFL action--the final three weeks of the regular season, Super Wild Card Weekend, and the Divisional Playoff.

Amazing. When the Colorado Avalanche and the San Jose Sharks last faced each other, Alexandar Georgiev was with the former, and Mackenzie Blackwood was with the latter. Northern Exposure
The Colorado Avalanche were coming off a very impressive win at home over the Nashville Predators, in what was Mackenzie Blackwood's Avs debut, but once again, we were back on the road. At least, this time, it's a three game trip, and it is in the West. Can't get any more West in this continental land mass than the Pacific Time Zone, and that's where the Avs would be for the next three games. The first of those three was a trip to the Canadian side of the Pacific Northwest, the city that hosted the 111th Grey Cup and this year's Survivor Series: Vancouver, British Columbia.

Life, Controlling Your Own Destiny, and Everything (NFC Week 16)
The National Football Conference continues to be the hot mess that it has been for the last few years. I still remember last year's final week, which saw two open spots up for grabs between teams who were either 8-8 or 7-9. It was wacky and wild, and this year could top that. I had to separate this week's piece by conference because the American Football Conference could have everything settled, and while the NFC can still leave things unsolved even at the final week, it's still worth a look see.
