CFL Week 12 Recap: 1,415 Days
It happened. It finally happened. The Edmonton Elks won a home game in the 2020s. Week 12 of the 2023 CFL season ended with the Edmonton Elks hosting the lowly Ottawa Redblacks, who entered the week in the bottom of the East Division. The Elks were coming off finally getting their first win of the season against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, but that was in Hamilton. There was one thing they had to take care of still: winning a home game for the first time in this decade. They actually trailed after the first quarter, but the good news, it was only 1-0. The Elks found the end zone in the second quarter, and after that, they never looked back. Edmonton racked up the points while all Ottawa could muster was two field goals and a second rouge. The offense did wake up a bit late in the game, but it was too little, too late for the Redblacks.

Top 5 Favorite Bray Wyatt Moments
This really, really hurts. The wrestling world, wrestling fans, and everyone affected felt the terrible heartbreak of the news that broke a day prior: Bray Wyatt suddenly passed away at the tender age of 36. The eldest offspring of Mike Rotunda (aka Irwin R. Schuyster), Windham Rotunda was born on May 23, 1987 in Brooksville, Florida, and it was in 2009 that he delved into the family business of wrestling. He was part of a vast collection of third-generation wrestlers, as his maternal grandfather was the legendary Blackjack Mulligan. In addition, his uncles were wrestlers Barry and Kendall Windham, and Bray wasn't the only one in his generation to enter the ring, as his younger brother, Taylor Rotunda, joined WWE as Bo Dallas.

A Look Back: The John Cena/Edge Rivalry (Part II: 2009)
When we last left these two legends, they had fought in a steel cage match to end their feud at that time. What has happened with Edge and John Cena since then? Well, Edge would be part of Rated RKO with Randy Orton, and hold the World Tag Team Championship twice, and 2007 would see him capture the Money in the Bank briefcase from Mr. Kennedy, and then cash in on The Undertaker to capture the World Heavyweight Championship. Edge would surrender the title due to injury, but after returning at Survivor Series, he would regain the title at Armageddon, and would spend 2008 in a big feud with The Undertaker, which saw Edge regain the title he lost to Taker at WrestleMania. Edge would add two more runs as WWE Champion after his feud with Taker ended.

A Look Back: The John Cena/Edge Rivalry (Part I: 2006)
On the August 18, 2023 episode of SmackDown, WWE Hall of Famer Edge was celebrated in his hometown of Toronto, as the evening marked the observed 25th anniversary of the beginning of his WWE career. I've seen a lot from Edge in his career, but I cannot help but basically obsess over what I consider his greatest rivalry: the one with John Cena. I had been planning to write about this for a long time, and during that time, the plan was to split this up into two parts, because I am very detailed and can pretty much describe this bit-by-bit. Plus, the stories differed in each half of this amazing feud.

Miracle: A Look at the 1969 New York Mets
The 1960s saw a huge expansion boom in professional sports, and Major League Baseball was definitely no exception. MLB teams were relocating in the 1950s, but the 1960s saw teams placed all over the continent. By the end of the 1968 season, there were 20 teams in MLB, 10 in each league. They were not done, though, as 1969 saw four more teams added; the American League saw the debuts of the Kansas City Royals (one year after the Athletics left Kansas City and moved to Oakland) and the Seattle Pilots (who moved to Milwaukee a year later and became the Brewers), while the National League's newest teams were the San Diego Padres and the Montréal Expos.

CFL Week 11 Recap: Tenth Time's the Charm
Ladies and gentlemen, the Edmonton Elks have won a game in 2023! The Elks' season is pretty much over; they entered Hamilton having already lost the entire first half of their games. The team was coming off a huge disappointment in Week 10, going from being on the verge of pulling off a massive upset against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, to blowing a sure thing and increasing their home losing streak. Regarding their meeting with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, the Elks started with a good-sized lead. It wasn't 22 points, but still, it was a good lead for them.

A Look at the 1968 Detroit Tigers
Before relocation and expansion became a big boom in the late 1950s and the 1960s, the American League had eight franchises. For the most part, it was the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees dominating the original American League, but some of the other franchises did their share of winning as well. And then there's the Detroit Tigers, who are quite hard luck. Entering this point, they had only won the World Series twice, but one of those two championships was the famous 1945 Series against the Chicago Cubs, who won their last pennant until 2016. The Tigers, sadly, were not used to success, but 23 years after adding to the Cubs' woes, they got it together.

CFL Week 10 Recap: It Was 22-0
The heart of the 2023 CFL season began with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Edmonton facing the hapless Elks. So I figured that it would be quite the bloodbath to kick off Week 10. Sure enough, I was right. When I tuned in to this game for the first time, it was quite one-sided. It was the second quarter, and the score was 22-0 in favor of the Edmonton Elks.

Perfection: A Look at the 1956 New York Yankees
On October 4, 1955, the New York Yankees were shut out in Game Seven of the World Series against the Brooklyn Dodgers, handing the Dodgers their first championship and marking the first time that the Yankees lost the Fall Classic to the Dodgers. It was a shocking setback for the Casey Stengel-managed Bronx Bombers, but as the saying goes, "The best revenge is living well." In sports, when a team gets punched in the mouth, that motivates said team to hit back, and if any team knew how to hit back in explosive fashion, it was the New York Yankees.

A Look at the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers
Throughout the history of professional sports, we have seen that one team who has a strong season, looks good enough to win the whole thing, is often favored to win it all, but fizzles out when it counts. My dad has a nickname for such teams: "fool ya teams." Each league has at least one. Smart aleck hockey fans would say that the Toronto Maple Leafs fit the bill, but the actual main "fool ya team" in the NHL is the Edmonton Oilers. The biggest such team in the NBA has to be the Philadelphia 76ers, though the Los Angeles Clippers are close, and regarding the NFL, the Los Angeles Chargers and the Minnesota Vikings definitely seem to fit the bill.

CFL Week 9 Recap: Nobody's Perfect
Somewhere, Cedric Gyles is popping the champagne. Who is Cedric Gyles, you ask? Cedric Gyles is the last surviving member of the 1948 Grey Cup Champion Calgary Stampeders squad, the only unbeaten team in the league's history. They were not perfect, there was a tie in that run to the championship, but the team finished with a goose egg in that center column. Why would Gyles be popping the champagne? Because the Toronto Argonauts are no longer unbeaten.

Stating the Obvious: Tony Khan is a Toxic Enabler
I just had to write about this. I had to. Other wrestling fans reading this know why. You've all heard about it. However, the main part of this story will be saved for later, I promise. Because of that, and everything else I've seen, I've come to a conclusion: Tony Khan is a big time enabler. The evidence is right in front of us, but first, an introduction.
