Incoming Dallas Cowboys Rant

Expressing my displeasure of 'America's Team'

By Mark Wesley Pritchard Published about a year ago 3 min read

I probably shouldn't do this, but I'm about to go on a heated, yet calm rant about my beloved team, the Dallas Cowboys. After their blowout loss to their rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night, I felt like I have to vent and get a lot of stuff off my chest. America's Team has been so infuriating to watch every single year. Winning the NFC East titles are nice, but they always end up falling short in the Wild Card round. In case you didn't know, the Cowboys haven't won a Super Bowl since 1995. So, for almost 30 years, they've been nothing but mediocre, unmotivated, and lack a sense of urgency. It's like this team lack heart. I understand what this team is currently going through, but something has got to change and fast. How many more one and dones and awful seasons are Cowboys fans willing to tolerate?

First and foremost, before anyone, including fellow Cowboys fans get in their feelings in the comments section, I'll always praise Jerry Jones for the Super Bowl titles that the Cowboys have won and making this team for what it is today. However, I feel like Jerry Jones is delusional and passive when it comes to how poorly the Cowboys have been performing for the last 20 years. He never thinks that they're in the wrong and assume that everything is fine, when in reality, they're not. Jerry Jones is so naive that he doesn't see the obvious or realize the root of the problem with this team. So how will the Cowboys return to prominence? The things I'm about to say will make lots of Cowboys fans mad, but it's necessary. First, Jerry Jones needs to sell the team. While I do appreciate him for buying this team and the aforementioned Super Bowl titles, this move might be beneficial in the best interest of the organization, fans, and the NFL. Dak Prescott, while I think he's a good quarterback, I don't see him as the future of the Cowboys. I like a quarterback who actually want their team to win and light a fire in their teammates. A quarterback who actually gives a damn. In other words, pumping them up. Finally, I believe that Mike McCarthy should be fired. I would like to see a head coach who's passionate, a fiery personality, and want this team to win a Super Bowl. Sometimes, you have to make decisions that are unpopular and don't want to do. However, major changes have to happen eventually. You can't expect to have the same coaches and players and expect different results. Troy Aikman has been the biggest critic of the Dallas Cowboys. He's won multiple Super Bowl titles with the team and the things he said in recent years had to be said. Aikman didn't sugarcoat the Cowboys' struggles over the years.

I don't want anyone to assume that I loathe my own team. That's absolutely not the case. Sure, their recent and past failures frustrate me, but just because they struggle every season, it doesn't mean I'm going to disown them altogether. I've been a Cowboys fan for 30 years and been supporting them, through the good and bad. I'll continue to be a Cowboys fan for the foreseeable future. Plus, I've heard all the Dallas Cowboys jokes from others, which used to bother me. Now, I'm used to them. The current Dallas Cowboys are like the NFL version of the Philadelphia Phillies. They're good during the regular season, then they fall apart in the playoffs. In order for the Cowboys to stop embarrassing themselves year in and year out, the aforementioned changes have to happen. Something's got to give, because in Texas, championships are everything. Anything less than that is considered a disappointment. Jerry Jones needs to stop being so complacent and have the guts to make major moves. Cowboys fans just want the issues with the team fully addressed and changes to be made.
