Discover What Chuck Can Do For You
My Credit's Good Anywhere.......Except in San Antonio; They Got Some Big Ole' Women Out There
MONEY! MONEY! MONEY! It's one of the very few things you can never have enough even if you already have 210 million dollars in the bank; You're still going to want 210 million dollars more.
I bring up the 210 mil. because apparently, that's what Charles Barkley's tv contract's worth.
Wow, that's a lot of money for just talking shit in front of tv camera! Nice work if you can get it indeed!
You know, something about Charles Barkley threw me off for a minute. And no! It's not his enormous contract.
Either is it his usual banter about how the NBA was so much better back in the day bullshit he's notorious for spouting.
It's not even that show he does with Gayle King on CNN that nobody watches either.
It was from this article here talking about the possibility of him "exploring his options" if his contract's not fully guaranteed.
Barkley states,
"My deal is 10 years, $210 million," Barkley told The Athletic. "[TNT Sports] has to come to me ASAP and they have to guarantee my whole thing or they can offer me a pay cut, which there is no chance of that happening and I'll be [a] free agent.
Reading this had me scratching my head here because wasn't he supposed to retire after the 2024–2025 NBA season? And now, him being a free agent is on the table.
Also, I had no idea that he had signed a 10 year deal. I was thinking that after this upcoming NBA season his contract would expire and he would just simply ride off into the proverbial sunset.
Here's something else I ponder; How's he going to retire when he has several years left on his contract?!
I don't see TNT paying him a shit ton of money just so he can sit at home so they would have to agree to some sort of a buyout.
I spoke of the "show" he does with Gayle King on CNN earlier. If he "retires" then what becomes of that show?!
We all know that CNN & TNT are joined at the hip just like Warner Bros. & Discovery are; Two peas in one glorious pod.
Speaking of Warner Bros., the NBA may be moving to Amazon but Warner Bros. isn't going away without a tussle.
According to this ESPN article, they're suing the NBA over media rights right now as I type.
I mentioned Discovery earlier. I had no clue that they and Warner Bros. had merged.
Remember when those companies were two separate entities?
It seems as if Congressman Tate was right when he said on Power that "politics makes for some interesting bedfellows."
I guess they really are going with the under one goverment deal after all.
But back to Barkley though.
I had this strange idea about how Barkley knew that there was a high probability that the NBA was moving on and wanted to use his drawing power as a TV personality to get them to stay.
Nahhhhhhh! I don't believe that bullshit either.
The number one rule in business is that it's always about the Benjamins, the Abrahams, the Andrews & the Georges, baby.
Realistically, I'm thinking that Barkley's proposed "retirement" is all a ploy to re-negotiate his contract.
Maybe Barkley, after seeing all of this money being thrown around, wants a bigger piece of the pie.
After all, he was doing a show with Oprah's best bud so it's only right that he should be rewarded for his pain & suffering also.
Time to back up the Brink's truck for the Chuckster; You know those Krispy Kreme Donuts are not going to pay for themselves.
