According to Worldometer, which uses estimates from a United Nations report for 2022, the global population surpassed 8 billion on November 15, more than doubling from 4 billion in 1974 — some 48 years ago.
According to Worldometer, the population's annual growth rate will be around 0.84% in 2022 but will continue to slow. This could mean that the world's population will not reach 9 billion for another 15 years, and that it will not reach 10 billion until 2080.

China and India are the two most populous countries, accounting for nearly 36% of the global population.
However, there is currently no agreement on how much of the world's population owns digital assets such as cryptocurrency, with estimates varying.
According to market research firm GWI, as much as 10.2% already own cryptocurrency, with the majority of ownership skewed toward countries experiencing high inflation or fluctuation in the value of their national fiat.
According to Singapore-based blockchain firm TripleA, the global crypto ownership rate is expected to be around 4.2% by 2022, with over 320 million crypto users worldwide. According to the report, the United States led the pack with 46 million crypto holders, followed by India, Pakistan, and Nigeria.
As Cointelegraph reported earlier this year, Blockware Intelligence predicted in June that Bitcoin adoption alone will reach 10% worldwide by 2030.
Chainalysis released its 2022 Global Crypto Adoption Index earlier this year, ranking 146 countries in five categories. Overall adoption rates were found to be highest in Vietnam, followed by the Philippines, India, Ukraine, and the United States. However, the report made no mention of actual ownership figures.
China, on the other hand, remains a difficult country to determine the level of crypto ownership. A large portion of the world's most populous country is thought to be tech-savvy and eager for cryptocurrency.
However, the ruling regime currently has other plans. There are no precise crypto ownership figures available.
