Online Income for Introverts
Calm, Quiet Ways to Make Money On Your Terms
If the idea of being on camera, chasing clients, attending a networking meeting, or cold messaging strangers fills you with dread, you’re not alone.
That’s why I thought it was high time I rounded up these online income ideas for introverts; after all, they are how I make a good portion of my money each month, and some of them have been working for me since 2009.
I’m definitely an introvert myself. My cup is not filled by endless interaction with others; it’s filled by quiet time.
That’s why I’ve always preferred the quieter side of online income—working in the background, building things that run without needing to be constantly ‘on.’
I have pushed myself to talk to the camera on places like TikTok, but honestly, it’s such an ordeal that the videos never get made, and therefore money doesn’t get earned.
There has to be another way, I thought—and luckily there is.
As mentioned, I’ve been earning online since 2009. Over the years I’ve tried everything from blogging and affiliate marketing to creating digital products and offering services.
And while I’ve seen a lot of “shouty” business models come and go, I’ve also found quieter ones—income streams that feel more aligned with how I actually want to live.
So, if you’re someone who likes the idea of online income but doesn’t want to build a personal brand or constantly post reels of your face, this is for you.
Below are a few introvert-friendly options I either use or am actively exploring.
1. Amazon Influencer Videos (Without Being an Influencer)
Hey, don’t stop reading just because you read the word “influencer.”
This might sound intimidating, but it’s actually one of the easiest faceless income streams out there.
If you’re based in the UK, US, or a number of other countries (check Amazon for the full details), you can apply to the Amazon Influencer Program and, once approved, create short product review videos that appear on Amazon listings.
For this one you do need to use your voice, but you don’t need to appear on camera. This program is all about the product being the star of the show and you sharing your honest thoughts.
I got started with this by sharing all the many items I have in my home that are sold on Amazon—and no, not all of them were bought there.
I batch create the videos, film a few each weekend, and upload. If someone watches one of your videos and then goes on to make a purchase of that product, you earn a commission.
It’s not an instant income win—it takes consistency—but it’s a surprisingly quiet way to earn that builds over time.
2. A Low-Cost Membership Model With Optional Income
This is something I’m currently testing myself, and I think it has the potential to build into a meaningful income stream over time.
It’s a monthly membership that gives people access to wellness and home products at below-retail pricing. The income side is optional—you’re not selling anything directly, and you don’t need to create a brand or be online all day.
I’ll be honest, when I first saw this opportunity, I was like a hard NO. However, as I explored more, it’s the one I’m now the most excited about—and many others have said the same to me.
What drew me in was the simplicity. No coaching, no services, and digital courses to create. Just a quiet digital membership that sits in the background. If you decide to share it, there’s potential to earn—but you can take it at your own pace.
It might not look like much at first glance, but the real value is in the business model behind it. Quiet, consistent, and surprisingly effective.
3. Writing on Medium
Ok, so you are reading this on Medium, so you may be now rolling your eyes and saying “doh.”
Yes, this one might be obvious, but it’s still one of the most introvert-friendly platforms out there. You can write anonymously if you like. You don’t need a big following to get started. And you can talk about your own journey, skills, or even things you’re experimenting with—like I’m doing here.
You can earn through Medium’s Partner Program, but also, it’s a great place to share affiliate links, promote your other platforms, or simply test content ideas.
I took a break from Medium, but I’m back, and what I love about it is the freedom it gives me to explore lots of different topics without being tied down to a niche.
4. Selling Digital Products (Without a Shop)
You don’t need to open an Etsy store to sell digital products. Platforms like Payhip or Gumroad let you upload a simple file—a planner, a template, a printable—and start selling immediately. No fees upfront, no branding needed.
This works especially well if you have a small audience already on social media or a blog, but it can also sit quietly and generate a few sales each month once you’ve got traffic flowing.
Let’s be honest, Medium is the perfect place to share what you have created.

5. Affiliate Marketing (But Quietly)
Many people think affiliate marketing means being an influencer. Whereas the most success I have seen in affiliate marketing has come through text-based linking.
You can share links via blog posts, Medium, or even email. Plus, you can grow traffic to those articles through Pinterest, Instagram, and other social platforms without ever having to influence anyone.
If you already use tools or products you love, there’s likely an affiliate scheme for them. It’s low effort once set up and, done well, can keep ticking away in the background.

6. Blogging (Even If You’re Starting Late)
Yes, blogging is still very much alive. And no, it’s not too late. Especially if you write with intent and choose a clear focus.
I run several blogs myself, and it’s genuinely one of the things I enjoy the most. I monetize through digital products and affiliate links—and it continues to be one of the steadiest ways to earn online without needing to constantly show up.
You don’t need to be the loudest voice in the room to build a blog. Write consistently, answer questions people are searching for, and monetize via ads, affiliates, or your own digital resources.
Yes, the Google updates and the introduction of mainstream AI have made building traffic to a blog a little more difficult, but it is still very possible. Pinterest, Facebook, and even ranking in AI (I’ve done it) can bring you even more traffic than before.
