Unlocking Online Success: How to Create an Amazon Seller Account and List Your Products Effortlessly

By Jay RodriguezPublished 7 months ago 4 min read

If you want to sell something, anything, you can sell in a brick-and-mortar store or sell online. Selling online is more flexible and cost-effective because you can set up anywhere and won’t need to spend thousands of dollars on rental and fit-out costs to build a physical store.

When it comes to selling online, you can sell on your website, a third-party ecommerce platform, or both. If contemplating option two or three, you’re likely to have come across Amazon, currently the retail website with the highest monthly traffic in the United Arab Emirates.

How do you sell on Amazon? It’s easy to do. The first two steps require you to create an Amazon seller account and list products.

Create your Amazon seller account.

Start by registering for an Amazon seller account. Click Sign up on the Sell Amazon UAE website. Input your name, email address (or your Amazon customer account), and your preferred password. Click on “Create your Amazon account.”

Account Type

You’ll be asked to choose between the individual and professional account types.

Professional

Choose the professional plan if setting up a store for a registered business or company, which could be your own or a business you represent.

The professional account usually comes with a monthly subscription, but Amazon UAE is currently withholding this. The professional plan comes with advanced selling tools and reports and is suited to experienced sellers, but beginners who have firm business plans and solid strategies to grow and scale should consider signing up for this plan. The suite of tools and reports that come with this plan can be highly enabling to an online seller.

Individual

Choose the individual plan if you don’t own or represent a registered business.

The individual plan is designed for those who want to sell on Amazon but are unsure what products to sell. It’s for you if you know you won’t (or don’t plan to) sell 40 or more items per month.

Hot tip: Since Amazon UAE is not charging a subscription fee for the professional account, sign up for the professional plan if you have a trade license. It’s easy to switch to the individual plan later if needed.

Requirements

To create an Amazon account, you must provide the following information or documents to Amazon UAE:

  • Phone number
  • Email: If you’re already a customer on Amazon, you can use your Amazon customer account.
  • Payment information: Provide your credit card information. This credit card account will be used to cover Amazon’s fees.
  • Bank account: Amazon will use this for the distribution of proceeds.
  • Product information: Let Amazon know what types of products you’re selling.
  • Product categories: You can add more later.

For individual sellers

Provide your full name, date of birth, and residential address. Indicate, too, your national or residence ID number, your ID’s expiration date, and your ID’s country of issue.

Next, submit supporting documents. You’ll have to upload a copy of your ID and any proof of billing address, such as a recent bank account statement, credit card bill, or utility bill.

For business sellers

Provide your full name, date of birth, the business name, and the company’s business address. Indicate your national or residence ID number, your ID’s expiration date, and your ID’s country of issue.

Next, provide documentary proof. Upload a copy of your ID, the business’s trade license and, if you’re a company representative, the relevant power of attorney.

Account Activation

Once you have provided Amazon with all the information it needs, wait two to three business days, and you should receive an email accepting or rejecting your application.

Log in to your Amazon seller account. If accepted, you can proceed to the next steps. If rejected, check the rejection reasons listed in your Amazon seller account dashboard and correct them. After fixing the identified issues, submit your application again.

List Your Products

Once your account is active, log in to Seller Central and add products to your inventory.

Adding Products That Already Exist on Amazon

This applies if you’re selling a product that’s already being sold on Amazon.

To add a product one by one, click on Inventory>>Add a Product and then search Amazon’s catalog for a matching product using its product identifier, e.g., its Amazon standard identification number (ASIN) or global standard product identifiers like global trade item number (GTIN) and universal product code (UPC). You may also search for existing products you can match by using the product’s name and model number.

Once you find a match, confirm that the existing listing matches your product exactly. If it’s an exact match, provide the required information and follow the subsequent prompts.

To add products in bulk, use Inventory>>Add Products via Upload. Next, expand the inventory files section and download the inventory loader spreadsheet, fill it out with the Amazon-matched products you wish to sell on your store, and upload it back.

Adding New, Non-Existing Products

This applies if you have your own brand or are selling a product that’s not yet on Amazon.

If adding a product one by one, use Inventory>>Add a Product, and then conduct your product search as usual. If there are no results, click Create a new listing, follow the prompts, and provide the required information.

If adding a list of products, use Inventory>>Add Products via Upload. Under the inventory files section, fill out the category-specific files spreadsheet and submit.

Brand Registry Enrollment

If you have your own brand, enroll it in the Amazon Brand Registry. How do you know this applies to you?

You have a brand name or logo that is permanently affixed to your products or their packaging.

You have a registered trademark (or pending trademark registration) for your brand name or logo.

Registering your brand is a measure to protect your brand name and logo on Amazon and establish brand ownership.

Sell on Amazon UAE

The above discussion teaches you how to sell on Amazon UAE. Getting started involves two essential steps: creating a seller account and listing your products. After that, you can learn as you go along. Everything should be easy.
