4 Signs That Point to Soccer's Continued Growth in the United States. Top Story - June 2018.
With news breaking that 2018 World Cup TV rankings in the United States have dropped as much as 44 percent since the 2014 World Cup, it would be reasonable to conclude that soccer may not be on the rise as was once believed. What this number doesn’t take into account is the fact that Brazil, the host country of 2014, is in a much more similar time zone to the United States than Russia, this year's host. More obviously, in 2014 the USMNT not only was in the tournament but was highly competitive, making it out of the group stage. Ultimately, the TV ratings shouldn’t be considered a major factor towards soccer’s growth in the US. Instead, what should be considered are these four signs that point toward substantial growth for soccer moving forward.

It Began With Dinho
During my childhood, I heard many kids talk about their sports idols! I heard the names like Derek Jeter, Lebron James, Tom Brady, Tiger Woods, Michael Phelps, Floyd Mayweather, and to me at the time, these amazing athletes never stuck with me for some odd reason. Now, out of all these amazing athletes, only one stuck for me, and his name was Ronaldinho! Now, many people are going to read this and say, "well of course dude, you were probably a soccer fan," but that actually wasn't the case. I knew of soccer obviously but I had never played or watch the sport as a fan. To me the sport that stuck when I was young kid was basketball, but the only thing I truly knew about it professionally was that Michael Jordan was in Space Jam and he was a freak of nature. Now, that being said, I never got to witness this phenom play live, only got to hear about how amazing he was, and got to see some clips of him in the playoffs. So, that wasn't so affectionate to me because I hadn't experienced it during my time.

The NBA Offseason and What's Going Down
The NBA The greatest player of our generation has a big decision to make this Summer. After the Cavaliers's rather disappointing loss to the Warriors in the Finals, LeBron James is possibly looking for another uniform to suit up in next season as he enters Free Agency on July 1st. Heavy recruitment has come from the Philadelphia 76ers, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Houston Rockets. Rumor has it L.A is a favored choice, and as a side note, LeBron has recently built a new, very expensive home in L.A. This could mean something; it could not. Another factor in this movement could be the expressed wants of Kawhi Leonard to be moved to L.A from San Antonio, and rumors of OKC Thunder forward Paul George eyeing L.A. as a destination.

Byram Hills Baseball Takes Section One Title in 4-3 Thriller Versus Rye
After Byram Hills went 1, 2, 3 in the first inning of yesterday’s Section One, Class A Final at Provident Bank Park, Bobcat starter Frank Vesuvio came out blazing fastballs against first seeded Rye. But he found himself behind 3-1 in the count to leadoff hitter and starting pitcher Tim DeGraw. The advantage had DeGraw teeing off on Vesuvio’s heater, which found the gap in left-center for a double.
