Goodbye
I miss you. I miss everything about you. I can't even believe that this world goes on spinning without your existence. You sang me awake, not to sleep. As if you knew my heart would struggle to beat in the grey morning mist of reality without the soothing tones of your voice. Your voice that cancelled out all the sadness and pain, the darkness and vain. It washed over the cracks like tippex on a stain, never to be seen again. And how I loved you. I loved you more every time you would scold, each time you would instruct but give me time to induct. I learnt the most from you. How to dress, how to behave, how to give. Then how to grow, how to learn and how to live. There's so much of you in all that I do, did you see that? Did you see me in you? And towards the end, I was vacant. I was lost. I did not know how to trust, how to speak to the one who'd always been my all, my must. You were ill, so weak. It was hard to be there watching you fall from your peak. But still, I tried. We all tried. To be there when you wept, when you fell, when you tired. Tired of dragging on a life that was no longer yours, not what you'd planned. It wasn't fair, not right, that you'd fight and fight and fight to get nowhere. Losing you was both bitter and sweet. I'm glad you were able to retreat. Back away from this mere existence and be freed from the pain of forever being beat. But sad, so sad, to lose the one who'd taught me all there was to be had. The one who showed such deep love and affection, asking for little in return and seeking nothing but a connection.
