Why Were Women So Accused of Being Witches in the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries?
Opening Early modern Europe was the epicentre of many social, religious and economic changes. Against the backdrop of the Reformation and the Peasant Wars in the early sixteenth century, the belief in witches was rampant throughout mainland Europe. Women were the main targets of the European witch hunts. Regarding the thoughts and belief system of ordinary people between the fifteenth and eighteenth century, there are a number of reasons why women were targeted as witches. Church Doctrine along with some popular writers of the time incorporated a large amount of misogyny into their ideas. These ideas, that spread quickly with the aid of the printing press would have influenced much of the European population to believe that women were liabilities and often accessories to evil proceedings.

Getting the Mariners to the Playoffs
Heartbreak for any baseball team is tough. For years, it has been the Cubs’ heartbreak that has been glamorized and somewhat sought after by north siders. It’s weird, holding onto and being fond of that “lovable losers” title. Unless you are a Mariners fan — especially in the Jerry Dipoto era. All the Mariners have known is heartbreak. Oh. Hello. My name is inconsequential to you as I will never stoop so low as to respond no matter what you call me. However, the only human I actually care for uses the name Amy when seeking my glorious attention. I was told you were interested in learning about my life. A wise choice as I am the most interesting cat in the world. But, you already know that. That is why you are here. You wish to gain superior knowledge from the fountain of wisdom that is me. Where should I begin? Well, I had spent three years in and out of shelters when my current humans found me. I’m quite glad they did, to be honest. Shelters are awful places. Have you seen the strays that frequent those establishments? Certainly no place for an elegant and well-mannered feline such as myself. I was only ever there because I had to escape from all my other humans. I won’t get into why. It just wouldn’t be proper to discuss such matters.

10,000 — the amount of subscribers ESPN loses on average per day. That alarming number seems to be taking its toll on the ‘Worldwide Leader in Sports.’ Want to know just how big this toll is? ESPN laid off almost all of their hockey staff, during the middle of the NHL playoffs. They also laid off some of their best reporters: Brett McMurphy, Jeremy Crabtree, Max Olson, and Ed Werder, to name a few.

The case is actually pretty simple. If it were anyone else, and certainly anyone who wasn’t over the age of 40, a player of Jaromir Jagr’s ability would have been signed on July 1 without prejudice. With the field of available players thinning out and Jagr relegated to the bargain bin, NHL teams should relish the chance to sign the league’s No. 2 all-time scorer.

Adapt or Be Left Behind
Look, I want to start out by saying I’m not a fan of Kevin Durant’s move to the Warriors. But I have to say I’m a fan of what it may cause GM’s and players to do come this summer. If KD stays with the Thunder chances are none of these changes are made. I still think the finals have the same two teams. This move is forcing change. Players like Chris Paul, Kyle Lowry, and Gordon Hayward are now forced to look into options that may not be the highest paying. Would Chris Paul who was so influential in the new collective bargaining agreement really be thinking about passing up a 200 million dollar pay day had Durant stayed? Honestly I don't think so. Now I'm not saying Chris Paul is for sure out the door. But he has to think about winning. Paul just turned 32 May. The idea of teaming up with LaMarcus Aldridge and Kawhi has to entice him. However a reunion in New Orleans has to be considered as well. Pairing a guard with CP3 skill set along with Demarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis, two of the best bigs in the league would bring them into title contention. The real question is how his insurance agent Cliff Paul would feel about him leaving 80 million on the table for one of these moves.

Colin Kaepernick Is Being Blackballed and Everyone Knows It
Why can’t Colin Kaepernick find a job? For a while, many brought themselves to believe, or made themselves so shallow that they didn’t want to believe, that Kaepernick was being blackballed for his stance on recent social issues. It was these same idiots, who said that he “just wasn’t good enough”, when we knew it was because of those things he believes in. You can believe what you wish, but as a brown person in this “bleach white” society, I know that when you stand up for something you believe to be wrong and someone of another particular lineage disagrees, you will be chastised, blasphemed, and condemned for it. In Kaepernick’s case however, “Black Balled”, and unable to find a job, even as a backup.

Earlier this week, ESPN and Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the Sacramento Kings’ interest in hiring an executive above Vlade Divac. Divac is the Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager of the Kings. He has constantly been criticized and ridiculed for several of the Kings’ roster moves. These include the Nik Stauskas trade and the DeMarcus Cousins deal, most notably. Divac has the reputation of being one of the nicest guys in basketball.

The Aaron Judge Cinderella Story Continues
It’s the type of start that every big league rookie dreams of. Your first full season in the Majors, leading the league in homers, and becoming the talk of the city. New York City, to boot. Well Aaron Judge has done just that. They even created a specific section for Judge in right field at Yankee Stadium called the “Judge’s Chambers”. Your own section in honor of how great you are at baseball? Must be nice. But the former first round pick deserves it. He’s taken the baseball world by storm, hitting mammoth home runs and making diving catches in the alleys of Yankee stadium. When Judge began the season on this kind of tear, a lot of people thought it would slow down. But it hasn’t. Judge is hitting .335 with 24 bombs, and was just asked to participate in the Home run derby at the 2017 All-Star game. For good reason, too. He currently holds the longest hit home run of the 2017 season at an astounding 495 feet.

One thing is for certain; gaming isn't a cheap hobby. Especially PC gaming. Technology is expanding at an extremely rapid pace and one day your computer may be able to handle all the new next generation games, while a couple days later something even greater is released and its time to upgrade that old graphics card again. Or if you're a student like me, you may not have 1000 dollars just burning a hole in your pocket to spend on a good enough computer that can handle Destiny 2 or COD:WW2 (Totally a Battlefield 1 copy by the way).
