7 Music Production Tips I Wish I'd Paid More Attention To
Years ago, after I got past the very beginning stage of learning how to produce music, I started to ignore a lot of “basic” advice I would hear when I was looking for ways to get better. I would think something along the lines of, “I already know that, I’m sick of hearing this shit, give me something more advanced”.

Trends to Watch out For in 2020
With fashion trends changing so rapidly, it can be very easy to lose track of what's 'in' and what's 'out'. However you still should consider your personal taste before you fall down intro the traps that trends often set. Just because a specific style turns heads and becomes the norm on the runway, that doesn't necessarily mean it'll fit for you.

A Few Things You Forgot Happened In 2019
Ah, 2019. What a year. It was...long and...uh...that's all I can think of right now: it was long. It was so long, that so many things happened, that I can't remember what happened at the beginning of the year. Hell, I can't even remember what happened at the beginning of the day! That's how bad it is. So, with that, here are a few things that you might have forgotten that happened in 2019.

2019-2020 Utah Jazz in Review
We are nearing the end of 2019 and the Utah Jazz are currently sitting at 20-12, good for 6th place in the West. Honestly, this year has not been what I had expected for the Jazz. Lots of ups and downs with the team, but in general, I am satisfied and believe that if the Jazz can keep it up, they have a shot of making the Western Conference Finals. Let's take a look at what this year has been like.

Quit “Hearingsplaining” to the Deaf Community
We all know the “-splaining” slang - mansplaining, whitesplaining, straightsplaining, and so on. If you don’t, it’s when someone explains or talks in a condescending, overconfident, and often inaccurate or oversimplified manner on a topic to a specific group that’s already well-versed in that topic, but told from the perspective of the group one identifies with.

The Vocal Challenge 2020
January is closing in and the New Year's resolutions are beginning to pile in by the million. But, honestly, how many times have we promised ourselves that we'll cut out drinking or snacking only to then scrap the goal mid-January time? How many promises have we broken to not only ourselves, but also to our friends and families, as well? It's not usually the greatest of starts, is it? But that's alright – because, annoyingly, we're all guilty of doing it.

A Filmmaker's Guide to the Greatest Films by David Fincher
David Fincher was born in Denver Colorado in 1957, making him 62 years' old at the time of this article being written. In his career, which began in 1980, he has amassed some great films and filmmaking styles that he is fairly well-known for. For example: he is very well-known for his main characters receiving increasing amounts of pressure throughout the film and become either fixated or obsessive on one idea. Son of a "Life" Magazine writer, David Fincher was no stranger to the world of celebrity obsession and so, I believe he satirically put obsession into his films in order to show us all what exactly it is we're missing.

NPR Tiny Desk Concert: A YouTube Channel For Music Discovery
It was about 5 years ago when I discovered a niche YouTube channel by NPR Music. This channel is called NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert where artists from all over the charts come and preform in a literal, tiny desk setting. These performances range from new artists to billboard toppers such as Paramore, Hozier, Tyler the Creator, Taylor Swift and Adele, to just name a few. These artists play a small set of 3-4 songs either acoustically or with a band. The first artist that lead me to Tiny Desk Concert was Matty Healy's performance for The 1975 about 6 years ago. Being a huge The 1975 fan, I discovered this acoustic set through their following and with my natural curiosity, I discovered a treasure chest of gold.

The Belsnickel
1. Mary Alice Sherwood disappeared on Halloween night. Every bit of her, right down to her crooked bunny ears and the powder puff tail pinned to her white coat, was swallowed by the chilly, bonfire-smoky dark of the Woodside suburb in which she lived. She was eight years old, trick-or-treating with her peers in her safe neighborhood under the admittedly relaxed supervision of a young sitter, and she was never seen again. The respectable, upwardly mobile households of Woodside shrank in upon themselves in shock and disbelief for a time, neighborhood watches became vigilant once again, and children were confined to their yards where parental eyes could fall upon them at any moment. Now, as Christmas approached, holiday furor and excitement displaced the sharpest spur of fear, and the Sherwoods’ tragedy had faded a bit from the forefront of neighborhood conversations. After all, no one really knew them very well. They kept to themselves, in the cul-de-sac of Hemlock Circle, where their only neighbor was an empty house for sale. The search continued for little Mary Alice, the police patrol car still made its rounds several times a day, and the residents of Woodside would have gathered in sympathy around the Sherwoods had they been welcome. They were not.

Wine: Cause and Effect
Even after a life changing event, banalities creep back in. The bins still need to be put out, the fish still needs to be fed. Almost a year and a half ago we were told my son had cancer. I wasn’t able to think a day in advance and yet, got through it. You put one foot in front of the other and suddenly you’ve run a marathon, (we’re not quite there yet, still only half way though). I couldn’t have pictured myself anywhere but in the hospital, still our new normal has unfolded. Vita continuat.

Memories of Madrid
Exploring new territory has always been something of a challenge for me. I yearn to see the World and all of the beautiful places within it, but it is also an overwhelming prospect. So whenever I do venture beyond the UK, it is safe to say I am terrified.
