Where help and hope are on the menu
Not every café is the same. On Chester-le-Street High Street, REfUSE has established itself as a hub in this County Durham market town. The café has a special ethos – combating food waste by rescuing ingredients rejected by retail and creating a vibrant community space in the town centre. That usually makes it a bustling hub, with live music and open mic nights adding to a winning recipe, and all on a ‘pay-as-you-feel’ basis.

Tara Beier
Singer-songwriter Tara Beier is a name that will soon be synonymous with invoking feelings of positivity and inspiration through her music. Her folk/blues/psychedelic rock sound is a mashup of some of her musical influences growing up such as Fleetwood Mac and Joni Mitchell with a twist all her own. Beier is also an accomplished actress and filmmaker. Tara helped create a documentary entitled I Met a Man from Burma, which helped release a refugee into Canada for citizenship and also played singer-songwriter, Buffy Sainte-Marie in Covered, which rekindled a passion for music that was within her from a young age.

A Landmark Win for the LGBTQ+ Community
In a 6-3 ruling, the Supreme Court ruled that LGBTQ+ people are protected from workplace discrimination under the Civil Rights Act of 1964, also known as Title VII. This comes days after the Trump administration rolled back protections from LGBTQ+ people, where health care providers can refuse to treat them because of their religious beliefs. This is a huge win for us, but our work is not done yet. In the midst of a pandemic, today’s historic ruling is a step forward.

How to Take Care of Your Vinyl Collection
Whether you're just starting out as a record collector or you already have a collection of your own, you should make sure you're taking proper care of your vinyl. Records are valuable, not only because they contain the music you love, but also because their appeal has made a comeback in recent years which gives them a certain vintage and eclectic edge compared to their more modern competitors like CDs and devices. It is very important to handle, store, and clean records properly in order to keep them in good shape for a long time.

13 Things I Learned from the Documentary ‘13th’
As I continue to educate myself on racism in America, I watched to highly recommended documentary “13th”. The 13th Amendment of the Constitution states "Neither slavery or involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for a crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States or any place subject to their jurisdiction." essentially meaning slavery is illegal, but prisoners can be treated as slaves. This documentary was incredibly informative and compelling to say the least. I've compiled notes I took while watching the film in an attempt to stay engaged and hold myself accountable for my education on the matter and created a list of 13 important lessons or information nuggets from the film to extend that information to others and have an easily accessible format for myself for future reference.

Playstation 5 Reveal: Analysis and Thoughts
So the reveal has finally arrived for Sony's next system, in what will be the 5th generation for Sony, and the 9th console generation for gaming. We've all come a long way haven't we? Yesterday was the huge reveal as gamers and consumers of media sat in anticipation in their quarantined homes and they gazed upon the reveal of the hardware. As well as the titles that will be pushing the sales of units. Naturally this being my first introduction to writing on this site. There are a lot of thoughts that I have in regards to the hardware and software that was shown.

Two Golden Nuggets. Third Place in Pets Welcome Challenge.
If you had asked me two years ago, “Katie, would you ever have a cat?” I probably would have laughed. Now, I have two. Two beautiful golden nuggets of joy that I simply cannot get enough of. Every morning I wake up to their purrrrs and every night I fall asleep to their cuddles. I’m sure everyone says this about their own pets, but I believe I have the most amazing cats in the world. I am officially a crazy cat lady at the age of 30.

'EuroTrip': The Odd Art Form Of Doing Stupid In A Clever Way
Back in the mid '00s, one of our middle school teachers decided to show us a movie for the last class of semester. Clearly well intentioned and looking for something youth oriented and educational, she had found a movie called EuroTrip. Safe to say, that much like Scotty in the film, she didn’t know. And, as pop punk Matt Damon cameo jumped on stage to sing about what it was exactly that Scotty didn’t know about, it was kind of too late to do anything about this little romp across a highly caricatured Europe we were about to take. It was dumb, it was fun and shameless almost to a point of being strangely endearing. It was — for (or despite of) all intents and purposes — an oddly perfect moment in time.

One Flew Over the Cuckold Press: A Lifetime of Fake News Backfires!
The big mainstream media organisations and all of their many collaborators are in imminent danger. The many years of spinning and falsifying news stories for the police, national intelligence services, big corporations, and the various western governments, have caught up with them. Most of the so-called “professional journalists” today are little more than parrots repeating the official establishment lines and avoiding conflict with any official body by complying with all their wishes without any questions asked.

Pride 2020:Three LGBTQ+ TV-Series You Have To Watch Right Now
It’s Pride Month! Yup, there’s a lot going on in the world right now so I wouldn’t blame you if it flew over your head. With the protests happening across the globe, it’s a good time to remind us all that Pride began as a riot against police brutality on the LGBTQ+ community, and it was lead by queer black women. So, no. Pride is not cancelled. More than ever, this is a time we should spend echoing and amplifying what our LGBTQ+ ancestors were fighting for at Stonewall in 1969.

My Groundhog, Ciabatta. First Place in Pets Welcome Challenge.
After the untimely passing of our last tabby cat when I was 12 years old, my father decided there would be no more pets living in our household. No more new felines, no more cockatiels, not even a hypoallergenic dog that wouldn't affect our allergies. His primary reasoning for the ruling was a materialistic one. If we got a new animal, no matter what it was, it would tear up our living room furniture - just like the cats did.

Latin American Cultures and our 527-year Struggle with Racism
We as a younger generation of Latinos have the responsibility to start a very difficult conversation about race with our loved ones. This conversation is necessary as our cultures have 527 years of colonialist ideologies engraved in our DNA.

LGBT songs that should be on your playlist for pride
As LGBT culture has thrived and grown, the media has made songs for the comfort and celebration of who you are. In celebration of pride month, I have some songs that you probably never heard and there is a need for you to listen to these songs because most of them are a staple in the history of the evolution and revolution of gay culture as well as the fact that they are catchy as hell.

Without fans, it just isn't the same
It seems like a lifetime ago that we were allowed to hop onto aeroplanes and fly to cities that would show us a little additional piece of the world puzzle. It was a regular occurrence for me to travel all over the United Kingdom and various other locations in Europe because of the work that I do. I work in the sport television industry and the last destination that I got to enjoy visiting was the magnificent Rome. Thus my flashback encompasses the sad truth that we cannot gather together at sporting events anymore, something I most certainly will never take for granted again.

A Beginner's Guide To Safely Participating in A Revolution
If you're living in the United States, chances are you're not completely unaware of the turmoil that's setting off like a firework into a powder keg right about now. Perhaps watching all this has destroyed an integral part of you that so greedily clung to a fallacy of security in your surroundings.
