Tara Beier
Singer-songwriter Tara Beier is a name that will soon be synonymous with invoking feelings of positivity and inspiration through her music. Her folk/blues/psychedelic rock sound is a mashup of some of her musical influences growing up such as Fleetwood Mac and Joni Mitchell with a twist all her own. Beier is also an accomplished actress and filmmaker. Tara helped create a documentary entitled I Met a Man from Burma, which helped release a refugee into Canada for citizenship and also played singer-songwriter, Buffy Sainte-Marie in Covered, which rekindled a passion for music that was within her from a young age.

A Landmark Win for the LGBTQ+ Community
In a 6-3 ruling, the Supreme Court ruled that LGBTQ+ people are protected from workplace discrimination under the Civil Rights Act of 1964, also known as Title VII. This comes days after the Trump administration rolled back protections from LGBTQ+ people, where health care providers can refuse to treat them because of their religious beliefs. This is a huge win for us, but our work is not done yet. In the midst of a pandemic, today’s historic ruling is a step forward.

13 Things I Learned from the Documentary ‘13th’
As I continue to educate myself on racism in America, I watched to highly recommended documentary “13th”. The 13th Amendment of the Constitution states "Neither slavery or involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for a crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States or any place subject to their jurisdiction." essentially meaning slavery is illegal, but prisoners can be treated as slaves. This documentary was incredibly informative and compelling to say the least. I've compiled notes I took while watching the film in an attempt to stay engaged and hold myself accountable for my education on the matter and created a list of 13 important lessons or information nuggets from the film to extend that information to others and have an easily accessible format for myself for future reference.

So the reveal has finally arrived for Sony's next system, in what will be the 5th generation for Sony, and the 9th console generation for gaming. We've all come a long way haven't we? If you had asked me two years ago, “Katie, would you ever have a cat?” I probably would have laughed. Now, I have two. Two beautiful golden nuggets of joy that I simply cannot get enough of. 'EuroTrip': The Odd Art Form Of Doing Stupid In A Clever Way
Back in the mid '00s, one of our middle school teachers decided to show us a movie for the last class of semester. Clearly well intentioned and looking for something youth oriented and educational, she had found a movie called EuroTrip. Safe to say, that much like Scotty in the film, she didn’t know. And, as pop punk Matt Damon cameo jumped on stage to sing about what it was exactly that Scotty didn’t know about, it was kind of too late to do anything about this little romp across a highly caricatured Europe we were about to take. It was dumb, it was fun and shameless almost to a point of being strangely endearing. It was — for (or despite of) all intents and purposes — an oddly perfect moment in time.

After the untimely passing of our last tabby cat when I was 12 years old, my father decided there would be no more pets living in our household. No more new felines, no more cockatiels, not even a hypoallergenic dog that wouldn't affect our allergies. His primary reasoning for the ruling was a materialistic one. If we got a new animal, no matter what it was, it would tear up our living room furniture - just like the cats did.

Without fans, it just isn't the same
It seems like a lifetime ago that we were allowed to hop onto aeroplanes and fly to cities that would show us a little additional piece of the world puzzle. It was a regular occurrence for me to travel all over the United Kingdom and various other locations in Europe because of the work that I do. I work in the sport television industry and the last destination that I got to enjoy visiting was the magnificent Rome. Thus my flashback encompasses the sad truth that we cannot gather together at sporting events anymore, something I most certainly will never take for granted again.
