Ghost Photo Shoot: The Greatest Fall Trend Yet.
If you don't love fall, Halloween, or both, I am guessing you're dead inside and we would never be friends, so you can actually get lost. Unless you enjoy reading articles written by people that don't like you... which I sort of respect in a weird way, so I guess you can stay. You don't need my approval. You go, girl*

Four Things I Wish Someone Had Told Me About Writing On Vocal
Having read about some success stories where people were earning a very decent living from writing on Vocal, I had high hopes of instant success when I wrote my first story. But my story didn't get any reads. The same thing happened with the next few stories and I almost gave up.

Family Members on Vacation
Vacation is something we dream about all year. The beach, slow mornings, new memories and experiences, sunshine…and family. Have you ever realized how each family member has their own agenda for vacation? Those different agendas often clash and when we’re not in the heat of the moment, it’s pretty funny to look back and reflect on. That’s why I wrote this sketch. I was laughing while writing this, because it reminded me my family and myself so much! I’m sure you can relate to one of these personalities (if not all of them), and can name which family member belongs in which category.

Revisiting John Carpenter's 'Halloween'
There was an uncanny spectral element to the film. The vintage aesthetic, the way the camera maneuvered throughout its entire duration. Its minimal use of spectacle and special effects. Its impeccable flow; transitioning from scene to scene without losing a grasp of my attention.

The New Wave of Filmmakers on YouTube
A couple of weeks back, I started a podcast with my friend Shania Bethune, called “Making It: Women in Film” (shameless self-plug), where we sit down with women who work in the film and TV industry. We wanted to create a space where women could speak about and share their experiences and opinions, and where aspiring filmmakers could ask for advice and get answers relevant to their position and dreams.

To the Beat: September 2020
We're back and ready to get into the fall spirit with another To the Beat! September's playlist is one of the most diverse roundups we've had so far! The genres you loved this month were the usuals—rap, oldies, and rock & roll—but also included pop-punk, reggae, Russian techno, and even classical! There is quite literally something for everyone on September's playlist, so whether you're leaf-peeping, pumpkin picking, or drinking a PSL, turn up the dial and listen to this month's To the Beat at the bottom of this story.

A Badass Woman Who Built Her Own Life
I'm so sick of social media evoking jealousy and self-doubt. All artists and entrepreneurs across the world have one thing in common, the ultimate goal of making a living creating content they love. With that goal comes a million other familiar emotions: the up until 3am perfecting one's craft work ethic, the anxiety of quitting a stable 9-5 job, and the jealousy of others in your field excelling.

Dad, how do I?
In my sophomore year of high school, my friends and I revelled in the evenings spent gathering around each other's living rooms. A typical evening for us revolved around snacks, Netflix and the latest Youtube videos. Youtube was our source for popular music, gaming and practical jokes. Some of our favourite Youtubers included Jenna Marbles, Markiplier and Roman Atwood. I lived in an idyllic neighbourhood and recall many fond memories of my childhood.

Life Isn't Lived on a Screen
I sat in our new rocking chair we bought in preparation for our baby, angled so my view was directly outside. I was hit with flashbacks to my grandpa's ranch in rural Missouri. The patio faced endless rolling hills as you’d see in a Bob Ross painting; dotted with bison, patches of forest, and ponds splotched in the valleys. Chunks of my childhood summers were spent here, but in my memory I feel as though it was my true home.

Nino's Home: The Most Straight-Forward Cooking Channel on YouTube
Confession: I am terrible at food creation. Now when I say "terrible" I don't mean in the modest way of "oh, I am so not a good cook! I may have assembled this 30-pound turkey with all the trimmings to absolute perfection but I over-salted the potatoes!"

Being a Xennial in 2020
What Is a Xennial? Pronounced: “zen-knee-el.” A quick search of Wikipedia will give you the definition of a Xennial as any person who was born from the late 1970’s to as late as 1985. We are the micro-generation caught between Generation X and the Millennial generation. This is because we were born at the very end of one and the very start of the next. We grew up a lot like most of Generation X, but then awoke to a world of drastic change; just as we entered into adulthood.

Why You Should Ditch Your Phone Before Bed
Our phones have become a part of our daily routine. We can’t imagine going anywhere without them. Most people today get into bed to try and fall asleep while using their phones even once they’re in bed. Listening to some calming music or watching your favorite show may seem like a good way to fall asleep, but a growing body of research highlights that this could be problematic.
