Trump Blames DEI for Plane Crash—Apparently Diversity Can Now Fly Planes

Trump’s Wild Claim That DEI Caused the Washington Plane Crash and Why It’s Totally Ridiculous

By Cindy🎀Published 12 months ago 3 min read

On the evening of January 30, 2025, American Airlines Flight 5342, operated by PSA Airlines, collided with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter during its final approach to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The crash resulted in the deaths of all passengers and crew members on both aircraft.

And in a move that surprises absolutely no one, our beloved human Cheez-It, Donald Trump, has once again demonstrated his unparalleled ability to deflect blame. Following the tragic midair collision over the Potomac River near Washington, D.C., which claimed 67 lives, aviation experts are still working to determine the exact cause of the accident. But Trump? He’s already cracked the case. According to him, the culprits are:

- **Joe Biden** (somehow)

- **Barack Obama** (why not?)

- **Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies** (???)

Yes, you read that right. Instead of waiting for actual facts, Trump hopped on TV to let America know that DEI hiring practices are definitely to blame. When asked for evidence, he simply said, “Because I have common sense.”

Which is hilarious, considering this is the same man who once thought injecting bleach could cure COVID.

---

A New Executive Order, Because Why Not?

Wasting no time, Trump has now signed an executive order instructing his newly appointed **Secretary of Transportation, former Real World contestant and Fox News guy Sean Duffy,** to lead the investigation.

Yes. You heard that correctly. The new leader of America’s transportation systems is a reality TV dude. A man who, fun fact, **once lost a debate to Puck from The Real World: San Francisco.**

We feel very safe.

Meanwhile, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is still without an administrator after their last one resigned on January 20th. Rumor has it, he was forced to quit after being bullied by drug-addled claymation creature, Elon Musk.

(At this point, are we even surprised? No. No, we are not.)

---

DEI? Or Donald, Elon & Incompetence?

Trump’s reasoning here seems to be that DEI policies have led to the hiring of unqualified air traffic controllers. The logic? *There is none.*

Aviation experts have already debunked this nonsense, but since when has Trump let **facts** get in the way of a good scapegoat?

**Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger**, legendary pilot and miracle-maker, weighed in on Trump’s nonsense, stating:

*"An airplane doesn’t care what race or gender a pilot is. It cares if they can fly the damn thing."*

Weird how the people who actually know aviation don’t seem worried about DEI.

---

So… What REALLY Happened?

We don’t know yet! That’s what investigations are for. But one thing is certain: Trump blaming DEI is like blaming **wind turbines for giving you cancer.**

(Oh wait, he did that too.)

We do know that diversity hiring efforts continued under Trump’s first term—even if he wasn’t the one championing them. So either he forgot, or he just needed something to yell about on TV.

Either way, this latest blame game is classic Trump:

1. **Something bad happens.**

2. **Find the most random scapegoat possible.**

3. **Yell about it on television.**

4. **Sign an executive order that accomplishes nothing.**

Rinse and repeat.

---

**Final Thoughts**

This isn’t about safety. It’s about Trump’s favorite sport: *blaming people he doesn’t like for things they didn’t do.*

Meanwhile, actual aviation experts are trying to figure out the real cause of the crash, and we should let them do their jobs.

But sure, let’s keep pretending DEI crashed a plane while we let a reality TV guy and Elon Musk make major transportation decisions.

What could possibly go wrong?

Meanwhile the families of Captain Jonathan Campos, First Officer Samuel Lilley, and all 62 passengers and crew are mourning a devastating loss. They deserve truth, not political blame games.

Rest in peace.

Excellent article. I love your new "definition" for DEI. I'd say you nailed it.

you are absolutely right about this. What a mess! trump spouting absolute bs, again. It's not only frustrating that he's lying, and it's not only frustrating that his lies can really harm people. It's also that his lies are just totally transparent nonsense. Makes me wanna pull my hair out and shoot steam from my ears like a cartoon character.

This is dangerous. Scapegoating and fingerpointing by a world leader always ends badly, and this is only the first of what I think are going to be many "accidents" because of his choices. Thank you for this!
