The Green Wall
A Mosaic of Hope

Imagine a Country on the brink of economic collapse where the people are hungry with little to eat. Malnutrition & despair in foreign countries creates a feeling of desperation that urgently needs attention. Africas Green Wall is a solution to the problem. In a desolate Sahara desert in the Sahel region the African Union has planted a wall of forests stretching across the continent. It is an inspiring landscape restoration that can address the triple planetary crisis of war & pollution. By planting half moon Zai pits that capture the rain during the season to grow crops that was once a desolate desert. The UN is contributing as well with billions of hectares to cover their goal of finishing by 2030. The food & Agriculture organization has created jobs with the production of sowing seeds, grinding them into grain & oil for food & soaps. The splendor in the fields offers hope for a better future where conflict among neighboring countries is resolved. Progress for the Green Wall has been slow due to disruption from military coups who have a reputation of destroying good things such as hospitals that are built to ensure the health of the people. Medicine is highly needed where diseases run deep & need fresh foods to evolve any threat. America, I think could contribute funds needed where water irrigation runs dry making it difficult to progress in the 30% finished project. The half moon crescent idea reminds me of my painting I made if you scroll back to my story about my time in Mexico. This is interesting as I wonder how they thought of indenting the soil with a crescent shape, as if inspired by the moon itself. I wonder why a half moon, & not a full moon. It has artistic realism done by humans & not plowed by a machine. I wonder why they don’t bring in machines, as it could speed things up. The population of the surrounding countries is expected to double by 2039. This is a greater way to increase population, not sending a bomb to your neighbors. Not being able to travel to see the Green Wall in person I let the dream world tell of solutions not thought of to understand how to secure the situation tighter.. The dream I had wasn’t exactly what I was hoping for. I saw a mirror world that had a similar ecosystem of planting in a desert environment. In the center of the crescent moons a round pit of water was dug with what appeared to be a giant mechanical bird! The copper bird was absorbing the air and hydrating the air into clean water filling the pit reservoir. It moved somewhat like a oil drill well boring the air as it filtered the soil like a tiny dunking bird that absorbs vapors based on air pressure. I think I must have astro projected to the bird galaxy itself as I believe it has a planetary system that runs on steam. It also had a way of fending off predators, insects or animals. It seemed that if the surrounding area it irritated was approached, a cloud of mustard gas could spray over the fields. This made it natural in its environment as the mustard gas was not made of sulfur, but from real mustard oil! The dream seems silly, yet at the grocery store I encountered a woman who had mixed her items with mine when I went to retrieve Orange Juice I had forgotten. I handed her two of her items, bread crumbs & grey poupon! I would never have imagined a mechanical bird that was part organic biologically. Then I saw in my dream, elephants patrolling the crops spraying water to irrigate as they drank from the water hole during the dry season. Children rode the beasts of burden making sure not to step on the plants that grew into tall trees. Everything was natural and enjoyable to the villagers who harvested food that flourished under a bigger sun.. I woke up from the vision, yet I was somewhere else, inside a grass hut it seemed. That is clearly a strange vision you had! I saw a group of smiling faces. They were woman who had been working in the fields, the fields of the Green Wall project! How did I get here? The women laughed at me, wondering who the strange lady was. Don’t you remember? We found you in the swamp! Children gathered in to have a view while they watched as if I were their entertainment. Without a television in their world I may have been. There was much whispering of a magical being that fell from the sky as I fell back to sleep to return back home. Waking up, I found myself upon a pool lounger in the days of Summer where kids sprayed water toys floating on water floats. I closed my eyes, the unicorn float turned into a elephant. The toys morphed into elephant trunks. Your slipping into another world! A woman’s voice said sitting in the chair next to mine. Lynn, is that you? Yes, I know I had the same experience too! Yes I remember, you called it the dream time. Maybe another world is calling you. It would be nice to go somewhere else, as I tire of seeing only plastic animals in the pool. Passports are expensive to make & I wish the Government would make them as a curtesy to every citizen. It would make it easier to travel. I guess we should think of others who are at loss. Their are animals now roaming from the fires, horses with no names. Who will build a rainbow bridge over troubled waters? Who will continue the Green Wall of hope? I fell back asleep, in this dream Lynn had given me her rattle. I made it shake over the walls of fire making it rain doing a rain dance. I flew over the desert lands shaking the gourds over the green wall. I needed no steam bird, I had an ancient rattle. You know, it was quite enjoyable.. & Lynn, I miss you..
